Initial Impressions

This is the third set of Industry Nine wheels I have owned now. I knew I wanted another set for several reasons. A few of which are their amazing hubs, durability, the sound they make, and the stiffness they provide. This time though, I wanted a blacked out wheel. I came across the Enduro-S wheels on their site and knew I had to give them a try. When I first saw them, they showed to have the same level of high quality finish as the other ones I have had. All of the spokes where evenly tensioned and ready to go. I mounted my Minion DHF Exo without relative ease.

On the Trail

Upon first use, I could feel that these were performing just like my previous wheels. They feel nice and stiff in the corners and track straight. The 3 degree engagement (upgraded from 6-degree) has your back in the tricky sections to provide confident pedaling and maneuvers. Of the rides so far, which is about 10, I have not had to re-tension or true them. This is the same kind of experience I have had with my other sets. I beat them up from easy xc rides, to riding some of the rockiest terrain in the Southeast like Windrock.

Long Term Durability

I fully expect these wheels to meet my expectations for the long haul. My ideal wheel is able to carry over onto a new bike, so long as the standards do not change too much and create issues with cost efficiency. I tend to be a little ‘lighter’ on my wheels. I tend to not dent my rims very much and so far there are none in these either. These have the same ratchet mechanism as all of their other wheels which has proven to be durable with minimal maintenance.

Things That Could Be Improved

There is nothing I can really say needs improvement on these more budget oriented wheels from Industry Nine. Maybe they could give hub color options?

The Bottom Line

Industry Nine has provided the same level of quality and performance at a much cheaper price than their aluminum spoke counterparts. If you are looking for a stealthy wheel set, want high quality / low maintenance, and ones that do not cost you an arm and a leg to purchase, then you should highly consider these.

Overall Review:

I consider this wheel set to have one of the best Price : Performance : Weight ratio's on the market. To put it simply, for under $900 you get a stiff, Industry Nine quality wheel set with some of the most reliable hubs on the market. You may not get the flashy colored aluminum spokes, but you definitely get the performance! Through fast rocky sections these wheels hold a line great. The wide internal rim width hooks up great with some Maxxis wide trail tires! I have been very impressed with these wheels for the price. They're not carbon, but that is the only disadvantage of this wheel set. Fast engaging hubs as well.
