When building a home mechanic work bench, specific tools make a huge difference. Some of them can be quite expensive while others are less than the price of a #3 at McDonalds. Even the lowest priced tools can have a huge difference on how affective one can work at home. The Park Tool T25 P-Handle Torx wrench is one of these tools. Priced at around $7 to $8, it is a tool I can’t live without. Here’s why:
Out of the Packaging:
When taking the T25 P-Handle Torx wrench out of the packaging, it is clear that Park Tool didn’t just throw it together overnight. The wrench itself is made of 8650 chrome vanadium industrial tool steel with a durable nylon handle that is not only built to last, but is very ergonomic in shape.
The wrench has a long and short end to it. The long end is for speed. The short end is for making your final torque down. I know that may seem a little silly but when each rotor comes with 6 bolts, it is a really nice feature to have.
Durability:
I would be lying if I were to say that I hadn’t seen a T25 P-Handle Torx wrench fail of break. There isn’t a tool out there that is completely immune to abuse. That being the case, I’ve owned my T25 for over 2 years it has shown little sign of wear. What I’m trying to say is this, if you use common sense when using the T25, it will last for a very, very long time. Park Tool offers a life time warranty on this item to, so if one were to break on you, Park Toll will stand behind their product.
Performance:
I’ve used quite a few T25 size wrenches in the past. From the free mini-wrenches that are included with the older avid rotors/brakes to the Birzman’s Torx set, they all seem to get the job done. In my opinion, I feel the Park Tool T25 P-Handle Torx wrench stands out above the rest.
The tolerances seem to be a little tighter with it. I’ve stripped out rotor bolts before but have never done so with the this.
Bottom Line:
Having a Torx wrench is pretty much mandatory if you plan on working on your bike at home. There are a ton of different options to choose from. The Park Tool T25 P-Handle Torx wrench is made of excellent materials, ergonomic in shape, and has amazing tolerance from production. Although it’s not indestructible, if you take care of it, it should last a very, very long time. I would recommend this wrench to anybody as a must-have. 5 Stars.
