Park Tool BBT-22 Bottom Bracket Tool 20-Spline

I purchased the Park Tool BBT-22 more than 5 years ago and have been quite pleased with it's performance and functionality.

Functionality:

The BBT-22 has multiple ways to attach and torque. At the end of the tool, there is a 3/8" Ratchet attachment which works very well for tightening and torquing. Incase you find yourself without access to a ratchet, you can also use a wrench to attach to the 32mm or 1" faces of the tool as well. With all these interfaces, you'll be hard-press not to have a tool to use with the BBT-22.

Extreme Use = Excessive Wear:

The BBT-22 works well with properly torques and properly maintained bottom brackets. Lets be real though, sometimes we have to remove a bottom bracket that is purely a hot mess. Multiple times I've had to use my BBT-22 on bottom brackets that haven't been "ideal." The most common thing that happens in these types of situations is the BBT-22 popping out of place before the tool can actually loosen the bottom bracket cups.

Having this happen over and over again can cause excessive wear and cause the teeth to not be as effective as they once were.

Pedros tools has made a BB Socket Holder to help out with this. It threads into the spindle of a standard square taper and ISIS bottom bracket, creating a snug fit that holds the BBT-22 in place even when removing the most seized and over torques bottom brackets.

Bottom Line:

I have been pleased with my BBT-22 tool. It has shown wear from extreme situations. The Pedros BB Socket Holder has been it's saving grace. If you are in need of a bottom bracket tool, I would recommend both the BBT-22 and the Pedros BB Socket Holder.
