Average Brakes
The Good
Easy to set up. Once dialed in they work nicely. Lever feels pretty good. Rotor seems fairly strong.
The Bad
Mine would be all set up and work good but it only last a month or so and then they felt terrible. lever pulled to bar and no stopping power. After I would re-set them up they would be good again but only for a short while. Tired new pads but no difference. Might have been cable constantly stretching and maybe should have tried a new cable but ended up just getting something else.
Overall Review:
OK basic brake for light use.
Acceptable, but pointless compared to BB7
The Good
CS2 rotor is quite good, pads and spares are easy to find. Pretty good power and modulation. Better than many other mechanical brakes at this price.
The Bad
Small pads. Why buy if you can get a BB7?
Overall Review:
These brakes match up well when compared to low end mechanical brakes made by Clarks and Tektro, however they are less powerful, less reliable and do not last as well as Avid's BB7, which for a few dollars more is a much better brake. If these came on your bike upgrade these to BB7 when economical.

Tri-Align Caliper Positioning System(TM) aligns caliper perfectly without shims. Features inboard pad adjustment, tough melt-forged body and tool-free pad replacement. Integrated cable stop prevents routing cable and housing from entering the brake at odd angles, reducing the possibility of cable drag. Avid BB5 mechanical disc brake includes 1 caliper and a 160mm rotor; can be mounted for either front or rear use. Please note: does not include brake lever; brake is compatible with most mountain-style cable levers.
