- Thin material breathes well
- Pad tends to sit below knee cap, leaving top of knee cap exposed
- Quite tight - consider sizing up compared to other knee pads
I have had these for about a year and have found them to be just okay. The weight is pretty much ideal for offering some protection while being comfortable to pedal. However, they have a few issues that keep them from being as good as some other products.
Firstly, the knee padding lacks contouring and tends to sit below the top of the knee cap. I had one crash where a rock impacted my patella right above where the padding sits.
Secondly, they fit quite tight. I usually buy size medium knee pads, but even after a year, I can feel the constriction of the top band around my thigh. Consider sizing up.
Lastly, the thin sleeve material, while nice and breathable, comes at a bit of a cost in durability. I have a few small tears from crash impacts. In spite of the the tears, the function is not impeded.
Overall, these are not bad knee pads, and their saving grace is their ideal weight. But I would make sure to try them on to get the sizing right and ensure the padding sits where you want it.
I really like these pads so far. Only one crash on them and it was from going too high on a berm. It resulted in more of a slide vs straight impact to the knee cap.
I liked the Fox Launch Enduro but lost one at a trail head. I replaced them w/ the Transition then Terratec pads. Neither worked out for me. Enter the Fox Enduro Pro. The fabric is very light (more than the Launch Enduro) w/ more substantial padding. They don't get too hot, no hot spots, and dry fast. They are very snug when you first put them on but they stay in place well. They can be difficult to slide off when you're finished riding and are sweaty / tired. Not a big deal. These pads tend to form to my kneecap better than the Transition and Terratec pads. They are long so it's easy to avoid the thigh gap. They also cover quite a bit of my shin.
Overall, these are the pads I'd recommend for pedal friendly, minimalist protection on trail rides.
I have used POC VPD 2.0, Troy Lee Designs Speed, 7idp Transition, 100% Terratec, and Fox Enduro Pro Guards.
