Profile BMX crank
Rating:
The Good
Crank has at least 10 years of life and is still at almost 100% from a brand new bmx crank. Titanium spindle upgrade reduces weight and also increases durability.
The Bad
I have had to replace the bottom brackets a couple times over past 5 years, but its an easy and cheap fix.
Overall Review:

I have had this Profile BMX crank on my Black Market Riot (Dirt Jumper hard-tail with 26" tires). I can't think of one negative comment regarding this crank as it has taken a pounding over the years from a 180-200lb rider constantly riding trails and jumps of any size. I did upgrade the spindle to the titanium Profile GDH Ti Spindle Upgrade Kit which saves 3.15 Oz compared to the original chromolly version.  I have taken my bike all across Texas and this crank has handled everything from pump tracks to Downhill trails in the Hill country.  It keeps my bike a one speed which saves weight and ease of use and once you get the right teeth size for the front sprocket and rear cog you will have the perfect setup to rip up a BMX race or blaze the trails of a rocky mountain.  The crank arms aren't smooth anymore as they have been beat up over the years, but this hasn't affected the integrity of the product at all.  I ride hard, fast, and fly high and this crank has met all my expectations over the years.  I run 25 tooth sprocket with a 12 tooth cog in rear on a Chris King hub.  Bombproof!!!!!

The Bad
weight is a big issue
Overall Review:

I ran two sets of profile cranks on my downhill bikes and never had any issues with performance or durability. These were one of the first solid cranks that came out during a time when square tapered bottom brackets would round out and crank arms constantly snapped. These were so bombproof that even Bender used them for his hucking back in the day.

The crank arms are super stiff and the bottom bracket bearings are very smooth and stay smooth after years of use. Installation is a breeze, removing the cranks is kind of funny as you have to use a special profile tool and then literally hammer on the crank arms but this process is quite simple.

The only downfall to these bombproof cranks is the weight, the arms and spindle, and BB are extremely heavy especially now a days with all the super light carbon DH cranks. There is a titanium spindle option but even with that I think this would still be fairly heavy crankset.

If you are looking for a set and forget crankset that is bombproof and don’t mind a bit of weight I would strongly recommend these.
