While at the From the Inside Out premiere, I became the proud recipient of a 2012 Scott Voltage FR20 to test. The FR20 is the mid-range model in the Voltage line and is priced at $2399 (The FR10 is $3699 and the FR30 is $1799). Today I was able to ride the Voltage and get an initial impression of the bike.
The geometry feels great and the bike is incredibly easy to maneuver on tight trails. Scott did a good job of putting wide, 750mm bars on the bike, something that a lot of budget FR/DH bikes have had trouble including in the past. The Interchangeable Dropout System is a cool feature for such a budget bike, allowing 3 different rear wheel settings, 0, -10 or +10mm. Playing with that will be fun for the large variety of trails here in the Pacific Northwest. The 2.4 Schwalbe Big Betty tires hooked up very well and it's noted that Scott didn't skimp on the rubber. I'm riding the "long" size and it seems to fit my 5'10" size well.

I’m looking forward to taking this out to some serious trails on the North Shore this next weekend, so stay tuned for an in-depth report.
