You may have noticed Contour dropping hints about a new camera for a few weeks now. Just take a look at their blog to see what we mean - they've got footage from Joyride, Nine Nights, Whip Off Worlds, a crazy water slide and more all filmed with a "prototype" camera. Well, it's here, and it's pretty sick. The brand spanking new Contour+2 camera is ready to be unleashed on your adventures.
Available later this month, the new camera allows you to shoot 1080p HD video; track speed, distance, and elevation; then easily share data-rich content across YouTube, Vimeo, and for the very first time, on Facebook (and with a few extra clicks right here on Vital with your biking buddies).
Check out the promo reel to see it in action with Cam Zink and crew:
What's rad about the Contour+2?
- They used the best features from the ContourROAM and the original Contour+ to make the new Contour+2, plus they added a few new ones.
- New optimized image sensor – The new sensor is less sensitive to external influences and has better image quality.
- 120 frames per second – In addition to shooting in four different HD modes including 1080p, the Contour+2 also shoots 120fps in 480p. Slow motion, baby!
- Rich data - Unique to Contour, a built-in GPS receiver allows you to capture and share a different perspective - one with HD video and speed, elevation, and distance information side-by-side.
- Locking instant-on record switch – Simply slide the Instant On-Record switch into its locked position to immediately start capturing video. Hasta la vista, power button.
- Mobile connectivity right out of the box – Pair your smartphone with the Contour+2 via Bluetooth to line up and preview shots before recording, or to press record from your phone while the camera is already mounted.
- Contour's 270° swivel lens – Allows you to find the right angle in every situation.
- External microphone input – For the best audio possible. Modulate the mic via the smartphone app.
- Waterproof case – Bring those aqua adventures to life! The included Contour+2 waterproof case is rated to 60 meters.
- Live streaming capabilities – Contour+2’s HDMI outport lets you live-stream what ever you'd like.
While the likes of Cam McCaul, Cam Zink, Andreu Lacondeguy and the rest of Contour's impressive lineup have already put it through the wringer, we'll have one on hand soon for testing, and we'll be sure to share the results.
The Contour+2 should be available in late September on www.contour.com and at some retailers for $399.99. Get stoked to tell your story.
