The iXS European DH Cup is back in Pila, Italy. It took the series four long years to be back in the Aosta Valley and race a rider-favorite venue. Back in 2005, Pila hosted the UCI DH World Cup and saw a young Sam Hill become a rising stars of downhill. Ever since, Pila is known for its quality riding and fast fun tracks.
The fourth round of the 2019 iXS EDC series provided racing at the highest level. Laurie Greenland and George Brannigan were in attendance and left their mark on the results sheets. With some crazy weather conditions that ranged from super thick dust on Friday to pouring rain on Saturday, things got interesting.
Coming from his season-best World Cup finish (3rd place in Les Get), Laurie Greenland was on another level. He went fastest in qualis and just launched it in finals to take the win over local Italian, Stefano Introzzi. Constantin Ruetsch scored his second podium of the season and kicked Bannigan off the box.
In the women's field it was an Italian sweep. Vroni Widmann lead the pack and won in front of her fellow countrywomen, Alia Mearcellini and Alessia Missiaggia.
