A perfect day graced a perfect race as the 2019 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships Downhill race saw familiar faces and new ones earn coveted rainbow stripes jerseys. Sven, Boris and Dan bring us the emotion and excitement from Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec.

Loic Bruni with the three-peat. Currently leading the UCI World Cup DH series and stamping his dominance with an amazing, composed run during what could be the most pressure-filled situation a downhill racer ever faces. -Sven Martin
Super atmosphere, super tight racing, Super Bruni. Having the last rider take the win is always the most exciting way to watch racing. -Dan Hearn
The Moment Loic Bruni won his 3rd World Champs title in a row. On a four-minute course, he won by just half a second. Well done, Lolo! @maddogboris
An emotional week for Loic's mechanic, Jack. His dedication to Loic is far beyond professionalism. These guys have a real bond and one that has now given them 4 World Championship titles. -Dan Hearn
Standing in a league of his own for the 3rd year in a row. -Sven Martin
Battle scars on SuperBruni's rocket ship. I don't think a single winning race bike was left unscathed. -Dan Hearn
Myriam Nicole with the perfect comeback. It doesn't get get much better than this, just a few weeks ago she was walking on crutches. -Sven Martin
Pompon coming into the finish bowl, perfectly poised. -Sven Martin
The moment dreams are made of, when the last rider crosses the line and you realize you've just become World Champion. -Dan Hearn
A huge sigh of relief and realization as it all sinks in. -Sven Martin
World Champs morning shot inspiration from Boris. Kye A'hern streaking past the rainbow stripes, predicting the afternoon to come. -Dan Hearn
Kye's time would have placed him Top 30 in elites. Calm, composed, on the right lines and plenty of aggression. He wanted it badly today and his dreams came true. Interestingly it's rare a junior World Champ gets to wear their rainbow stripes at a World Cup because second-year juniors move into elites. Kye will take his to Snowshoe next week. -Dan Hearn
Kye A'Hearn sealing the deal with a perfect lunge. -Sven Martin
When you push to the limit, the bikes gets tested too. Finals could have ended very differently for Kye A'hern. -Dan Hearn
Vali sending the biggest jump on the track sideways. A jump that, interestingly enough, Pompon rode around. -Sven Martin
Vali Höll coming in HOT, bypassing the hotseat and straight to the podium,. -Sven Martin
That's two in a row for Vali. -Sven Martin
Golden Selfies. -Sven Martin
Sorry Loic, but we couldn't resist. @maddogboris
Troy Brosnan has such a sick race run, and and he put EVERYTHING into it. We thought that's it, gold medal. Then came Loic. These two were on a different level than the rest of the field. @maddogboris
Troy is a boss. No matter how dialed your runs and lines are, unless you are willing to push a little harder and ride a bit looser, you won't podium these days. Troy on his last training run before finals, exiting the rock huck sideways. -Sven Martin
Troy celebrating with his family. -Sven Martin
Race run and finish area memories on Troy's jersey. @maddogboris
In the three-hour training session the day before finals, Tahnee Seagrave did just one run and had a front flat. It would be easy, then, to assume that maybe she wasn't ready for her comeback, but she delivered the goods on Sunday and stormed into second place. Stoked to have you back T! -Dan Hearn
Tahnee Seagrave on her way to winning the silver medal! Pretty impressive after her shoulder injury a few months ago. @maddogboris
Antoine Vidal keeping his splits consistent to end up in second place. The EWS junior leader stealing a medal off the downhillers. -Sven Martin
Mille Johnset takes home a silver medal at her last Junior World Champs. -Dan Hearn
Amaury Pierron was here for number one. A big mistake up top put him behind, but he still managed to hold onto third place in a tight men's field. His time will come, we can be sure of that. -Dan Hearn
Amaury Pierron, with two big mistakes on the first split, could never get back the time. He would have to settle for bronze. -Sven Martin
Marine Cabirou has had such a strong season but couldn't top the times of the comeback queens, Myriam and Tahnee. -Dan Hearn
Marine Cabirou earning bronze today. @maddogboris
Tuhoto-Ariki Pene, fastest at three of the four splits. So close to the win. The young Kiwi fading on the final sector. He is not a full-time racer and doesn't have tracks this length in NZ to prepare on. Nevertheless he was happy with his result. -Seb Schieck
Anna Newkik, #USDH, earning a solid bronze medal in the challenging Junior Women's class. @maddogboris
The three Amigos. -Sven Martin
Perfect riding and perfect podium technique. -Sven Martin
The future of women's racing is bright. Your Junior World Champs medalists. -Dan Hearn
Doing it for Australia. This is a day Kye won't ever forget. -Dan Hearn
These guys! Thanks for such a rad season so far. @maddogboris
Fabien Barel still has a big impact on the racing of today. @maddogboris
#USDH - Impressive performance from Dakotah Norton. He finally knocked Matt Walker out of the hotseat and was only 5.4 seconds off a winning time. Look out West Virginia! @maddogboris
It was windy out there today. Brock the windsock. -Sven Martin
Thanks to David and Jorge for all you guys do out ther, keeping the World Cup and World Champs tracks worthy. -Sven Martin
We saw some impressive riding and unique lines from Danny Hart all week long. His run looked like it had potential with some fast upper splits. Time was lost the further down the course he went and the results of just out of medal contention by just .25 seconds. @maddogboris
Great result for Emilie Siegenthaler finishing the year strong in fifth place. -Sven Martin
Myriam Nicole had an early race run and finished it 18 seconds faster than Vaea Verbeeck at this point. No other women could beat her 4:53 time, and she became the 2019 Elite Women World Champion. @maddogboris
Stevie will never be forgotten, here or anywhere. His spirit runs deep through the fans and racers. -Sven Martin
Matt Walker doing Eddie proud with an 11th. Like a good Vanzac, he squatted in the hotseat until they forced him out. -Sven Martin
Your fastest Canadian woman, Vaea Verbeeck, leaping into eighth. -Sven Martin
Charlie Harrison with a T-Bog in front of the home team. -Sven Martin
Loris Vergier with the best scrub after a big crash up top earlier in his run. -Sven Martin
Tracey Hannah riding well, but with the overall title in the back of her head, not willing to risk it all for the stripes. -Sven Martin
Laurie Greenland. 6th with a flat. Just saying. @maddogboris
Max Commencal is a fan, sponsor and really part of the family. He's a big reason for the Commencal success over different generations. -Sven Martin
Theo Eranlangsen with a cheeky suicide no-hander in his first training run. A massive crash on his last run before the finals would take him out of the event. Get well, Theo. -Sven Martin
Reminiscent of a shot I took of Steve Peat after he won the stripes in Canberra 10 years ago. -Sven Martin
Your 2019 Elite Women World Champs Champagne shower. @maddogboris
Finals under glorious blue skies -Sven Martin
Luca Shaw with a Top 10, just four seconds off a medal. He's headed home to familiar turf, a threat at the last World Cup in West Virginia. -Sven Martin
Twins. -Sven Martin
Even fans from afar came out in force to support their favorite riders. Yannick Wende with some of the biggest cheers. -Sven Martin
Mick Hannah, patent-pending. -Sven Martin
Three in a row and four in total for Loic. I wonder if I'll be taking this shot again next year? -Dan Hearn
After not knowing whether he could actually ride in MSA due to a recent injury, Bernard Kerr pushed on and made it to finals. 34th and on the rise. -Dan Hearn
Myriam Nicole soaking it in. -Dan Hearn
The riders are the ones crowned the champions, but there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to get them there. -Dan Hearn
A big crash in training put Antoine Vidal on the back foot, but a stellar performance in finals brought him down in second place. -Dan Hearn
Loic has a big following wherever on the planet the season takes him. -Dan Hearn
The way of World Champs means those beyond the medals often don't get the coverage they deserve. A flat tire and still Lucas Cruz crossed the line in 4th, just 1.3 seconds off the win. -Dan Hearn
Definitely one of the biggest crowds of the year. The Canadians did not disappoint. -Dan Hearn
Canadian and past World Champion, Miranda Miller, enjoying her time in front of the massive home crowd. -Dan Hearn
Laurie's run was one to watch on the live stream. Pushing on with a deflated tire gave him some wild moments and the crowd loved it. -Dan Hearn
Laurie has not had the best week. With teammate Brook's incident, a destroyed rear wheel in qualifying and a flat tire in finals, it could be easy to dwell on what could have been. But 6th with a puncture on this track is a remarkable achievement and he should hold his head high and be proud. We certainly are. -Dan Hearn
The "Minnaar Gap" of previous years has almost become a necessity for those seeking the top spot. -Dan Hearn
Second-fastest Canadian of the day, Mark Wallace ended the week in 9th spot. -Dan Hearn
A frustrating race for Tracey Hannah, after two big crashes in training. She had to contemplate the overall World Cup win that is within her grasp. Let's see what she can deliver in Snowshoe just a few days from now. -Dan Hearn
After another dominating World Cup season, it's big disappointment for Thibaut Daprela who punctured in finals. He still took 5th place which is a remarkable result - just not the one he was after. -Dan Hearn
Fastest canadian, Finn Iles. He seemed to be kinda happy about his 7th place! @maddogboris
Maybe Loic got a little bit too influenced by the XC guys? @maddogboris
Greg Minnaar made some serious use of his body size. 5th place for him, just 3.1 off the win. @maddogboris
Martin Maes didn't have the race he was looking for. 21st place for the Belgian. @maddogboris
Amaury Pierron was here to win and nothing else. 3rd is what he'd have to settle for. @maddogboris
Dean Lucas made the best of it after a terrible looking crash in the rocks. He did have the aero advantage post-crash, though. @maddogboris
Unbelievably huge crowd here in MSA! @maddogboris
Australian, Connor Fearon, another victim of a flat tire. @maddogboris
Au revoir. @maddogboris
World Champs MSA, signing out. -Dan Hearn
That's it, that's all for this year's hunt for the rainbow stripes. Thanks Mt Ste Anne. <br />
