All New E-Genius – SCOTT Sets New Benchmark for E-MTB integration

For 2018, the E-Genius is more than ever a Genius! It takes all the great features of the non-motorized version like wheelsize option, kinematic and travel combined with pedal assistance. To meet the need of E- MTB riders, dedicated features have been developed to integrate as much as possible with the Shimano drive unit. We don’t build simple bikes with motors on top. One of our motivations is to have complete integration of the drive unit, staying as close as possible to the geometry and the suspension performance of our non- motorized bikes. As a result, we take advantage of decades of knowledge and apply them in the best way possible to our e-platforms. Our goal is to provide the best riding sensation without compromise.

DESIGN AND INTEGRATION

The new E-Genius is our most innovative and advanced e-bike ever. Thanks to the light and compact Shimano drive unit with an integrated battery, we had the opportunity to completely re-design the full package, introducing a new benchmark for integration and design. Following the brand new Genius platform, we updated the kinematic with a Virtual 4 Link design to get a stiffer and higher performance frame. The choice of dedicated e-bike components like E-MTB specific suspension and patented SCOTT and Syncros parts completes the full package
• SCOTT PATENTED SPEED SENSOR:
Instead of having a sensor on a spoke, the E-Genius uses a patented magnet mount on the lock ring of the Shimano rotor system. As a result the sensor and the magnet are now more integrated and protected
• SCOTT MOTOR AND BATTERY COVERS:
To provide an optimal design and improving the protection as well as the cable routing, 3 covers have been developed for the E-Genius.
• SYNCROS FL 1.0 BAR:
Syncros has developed the internally routed FL1.0 bar. It offers you clearance, comfort and also reduces the risk of sliced or torn cables in the case of impact.
• INTEGRATED KICKSTAND MOUNT:
A kickstand mount has been integrated onto the chain stay
• SHIMANO STEPS E-8000:
The E-Spark range is assisted by Shimano Steps E-8000 engine with a maximum power output of 70Nm and 250W. To meet the MTB specific needs, a 504Wh battery equipped the bikes.
E-GENIUS KEY FEATURES:
• WHEELS COMPATIBILITY:
The E-Genius can switch from 27.5” to 29” wheels with nothing more than the flip of a chip in the linkage. With 27.5” wheels, you can run 2.5”, 2.6” or 2.8” tires. For the 29er, anywhere from 2.4”-2.6” is good to go.
• TWINLOC:
The TwinLoc Suspension system offers the most efficient bike handling in any riding situation. This is even more valuable with the extra weight of an E-Bike. Even with electric assist, this affects the efficiency of your pedal stroke and the power you put in which moves you forward, especially on long, steep uphills. TwinLoc allows you to not only change compression damping, but also to change the spring curve, dynamically altering the geometry of the bike.
• GEOMETRY:
The E-Genius is a Genius. The integration of the battery and the motor allows us to realize almost the same geometry of the non-motorized version. We decided to go for slightly longer chainstay (460mm) to increase stability in Boost mode. Regarding the head angle and BB height, they are the same.
