WTB’S New Tires are TOUGH AF. 1

The rapid rise of full-power eMTBs combined with the increasing demands of enduro and gravity riding has led to the acceleration in wear & tear on equipment. As riders push for longer, faster, and harder rides, the demands on bikes and their components continue to grow. There's no doubt that tires are at the forefront, taking on the toughest challenges head-on. Not to worry though, help is on the way.

WTB has been working tirelessly to meet those demands and is thrilled to introduce the all-new SG1 technology.

SG1 represents the toughest and most durable protection technology ever to be paired with WTB’s iconic Trail Boss, Vigilante, Judge and Verdict treads, taking the proven dual-ply ‘Tough’ option to an entirely new level.

Puncture protection runs beneath the entire tread cap making the tire more resilient against sharp objects lurking in the dirt.  But the fortification does not stop there. With a clear goal of strengthening the most vulnerable areas of a tire, WTB has introduced their new Inner Peace + technology, tripling the height of it’s apex bead protection for SG1. This enhancement not only shields the tire bead from damage, but also significantly bolsters the sidewall structure. 

Our athletes and testers are particularly thrilled about this upgrade as it allows for increased comfort and traction by running lower pressures without sacrificing tire stability in heavy compressions or through hard cornering. More protection AND more support - that’s a win win!

But wait. There’s more.

They say you can’t have your cake and eat it too, but after years of development and many separate revisions, WTB has also updated both Fast Rolling and High Grip compounds to not only increase tread longevity, but also improve grip at the same time… Especially in the wet!

These advancements have been achieved by optimizing the natural vs. synthetic rubber ratios and fine-tuning the balance between carbon black vs. silica within the compound itself. The increase in natural rubber results in a compound that’s less slippery when exposed to moisture - exactly where you need that extra bite. 

Pair that with a reduction in carbon black & a boost in silica levels, and you get increased durability and resistance to wear, resulting in longer lasting tires that grip harder and puncture less. Now who could be mad at that?
