CUSTOM TUNE YOUR TELUM IN MINUTES USING RAPID REVALVE
The Vorsprung Telum is a unique shock, featuring a number of different design features and technologies you won't find in any other MTB shock. It is, by design, custom tuned for each individual rider/bike combination - because there is no "base tune" as such.
We are excited to announce that we are fully opening up the tuning process to riders worldwide to perform for themselves! At the heart of the Telum sits the patent-pending Rapid Revalve technology, which in conjunction with our online Tuning Hub allows anybody to very quickly and easily do the two critical things that are necessary when custom tuning a shock:
1. Determine the tune (valving specification) you need - this is calculated for you and your bike via the Vorsprung Tuning Hub online tuning software.
2. Easily reconfigure the shock to that specification - this is done in just a couple of minutes with Rapid Revalve, with no need to disassemble, rebuild, rebleed or repressurize the shock. The process is simple, straightforward and takes just a couple of minutes.
Utilising Rapid Revalve requires only one special pin tool, which is available directly from Vorsprung or through our distributors worldwide, plus a torque wrench and allen keys. In many cases, the shock can even be revalved without removing it from the bike.
All the necessary training on how to do this is provided online at the Vorsprung Tuning Hub - it takes about 15 minutes to go through the training videos and complete the quiz that ensures you understand the process. All your tuning history is recorded for you on the Tuning Hub in case you wish to refer back to it later.
HOW IT WORKS: TELUM DEEP DIVE
These four videos will take you through a true deep dive on how the shock is designed, why things are designed the way they are, what sets it apart from anything else, and how you can use Rapid Revalve to directly alter the shim stack stiffness in minutes.
Part 1 - Basic design, layout and concept of the Telum - a rundown of the twin-tube architecture and how and why we used that layout.
Part 2 - Further design details - spherical bearings, damper shaft details, IFP design, main piston design, stroke adjust method, hydraulic bottom out and glide ring design.
Part 3 - Rapid Revalve prep - how a shim stack works, how external adjusters work, and why they do different things.
Part 4 - How the Telum is tuned using the Vorsprung Tuning Hub software and the Rapid Revalve technology, what custom tuning can offer you, how the patent-pending Rapid Revalve mechanism works and a bit of a dig into high speed compression adjuster design. And also - how you can tune the Telum yourself!
The eagle-eyed among you will also notice that Rapid Revalve is in fact infinitely adjustable across its range. While we provide tuning recommendations at specified intervals & increments, there is actually nothing stopping you from setting it to any intermediate point in the range. There is no being stuck wishing you were “between tunes” here!
