Propain Introduces the RAGE 3 R CF

Maximum race performance and uncompromising speed – this remains the credo for our purebred downhill bike, the PROPAIN RAGE. Based on our previous model, we have worked closely with our athletes to refine and enhance our race bike to its fullest potential. Using their feedback, we‘ve made the proven geometry of our RAGE even more powerful and reliable. The focus of the redesign was on minimizing noise and optimizing the carbon layup.

The update also offers three fresh new colors, including an exclusive World Cup Replica Edition, limited to only 40 pieces. As always, we offer the option to choose from a wide range of quality components, which has been expanded to include some exciting new additions for the RAGE.

Concept and Geometry

Like the previous version, the updated RAGE retains its typical race DNA: The geometry is fully designed for speed and stability, delivering maximum control in high-speed sections and technically demanding, rough terrain. With a flip chip and adjustable dropouts, the setup can be flexibly adapted to personal preferences. Thanks to the optimized carbon layup in highly stressed areas, the RAGE is now even more powerful and offers even greater confidence.

The RAGE 3 R CF is available in both a mixed wheel setup and a pure 29” configuration. Thanks to the flip chip on the upper link of the PRO10 frame, both wheel configurations can be used on the same frame. 29” wheels offer better rollover performance, especially on technical sections, while the smaller 27.5” rear wheel makes the bike more agile and provides greater freedom of movement. With the flip chip and adjustable dropouts, the setup can be flexibly adjusted to suit personal preferences. Frame sizes M, L, and XL are available.

PRO10 Suspension System

We are 100% convinced that our PRO10 system remains the most powerful frame concept on the market. It is based on four pivot points and a floating shock, controlled by two counter-rotating links. The 215 mm PRO10 rear suspension of the updated RAGE, combined with its perfectly tuned shock, delivers sensitive responsiveness and high progression. On the track, this translates to massive grip and maximum stability.

TPR Chain and Seat Stay Protectors

The newly developed chain and seat stay protectors are made from high-quality, soft TPR plastic. This design on the Rage update offers excellent damping properties and has been our standard since the TYEE 6. The air-filled knobs with an outward-facing shape efficiently reduce chain slap, ensuring a quieter riding experience.

Optimized Cable Routing

A central goal in the further development was to minimize noise during the ride. An essential step was the optimization of cable routing. Special cable clamps, securely integrated into the frame at the entry and exit points, ensure that the cables are firmly fixed. Additionally, the diameter of the cable ports was reduced to eliminate any cable play, effectively preventing annoying rattling.

High Modulus Blend Carbon

Just as the previous model, the RAGE 3 R CF focuses on maximum stability and uncompromising performance. With the revised carbon layup, the new RAGE is even more reliable and powerful, offering the perfect mix of stiffness and flex. For a modern carbon frame capable of handling top-level racing, using a good carbon material isn’t enough. Instead, it requires a blend of various carbon fibers and weaves, each with distinct properties, to meet the demands. PROPAIN carbon frames are made from pre-impregnated (prepreg) carbon layers. These ensure an optimal resin content and significantly higher strength values. Each layer has specific properties and functions at designated points on the frame. Depending on the requirements for stiffness, flexibility, impact resistance, weight, strength, and stress direction, different fibers and weaves are used.

Fresh New Colors

With “Carbon Raw (Matte)” and ‚“Whipping White (Gloss)”, the RAGE update offers two new colors to choose from. Additionally, we offer an exclusive World Cup Replica Edition from our PROPAIN POSITIVE team, limited to just 40 units. The “Carbon Raw”, already familiar from other models, stands out with its visible clear coat, giving the RAGE a distinctive look and showcasing the high-quality Blend Carbon technology. Newly available in the configurator with the RAGE 3 R CF is the color “Whipping White (Gloss)”. This clean color is elegant and timeless, adding a sense of freshness and lightness to the bike while highlighting its modern design language. Its simplicity makes it extremely versatile and easy to combine with other components.

The PROPAIN POSITIVE Replica Edition in a purple and white sprinkle design is unmistakable with its exclusive look. This special design was initiated by Phil Atwill himself. Builds and Prices

As with other models, we continue to offer a wide selection of high-quality components featuring the latest technology, allowing every customer to configure their dream bike according to their personal preferences. In addition to the proven suspension options from RockShox and Fox, we are excited to now offer top-notch components from Öhlins – an amazing addition to our configurator! The RockShox Boxxer is now also available in ‚electric red‘ in our configurator. Alongside new wheels from Newmen, we have expanded our range to include DT Swiss. For maximum braking power on our RAGE, we now feature Shimano Saint brakes. Brakes from Magura, SRAM, and Formula remain available as well.

Additionally, numerous options for handlebars, saddles, grips and tires provide plenty of room for customization. We have also expanded our portfolio, and the new RAGE now rolls on Conti tires, in addition to Schwalbe. We now also offer saddles and grips from Ergon. Furthermore, we are proud to be one of the first manufacturers to offer the OChain Active Spider as standard. For those who prioritize maximum performance, it is an essential upgrade for downhill bikes. In addition to individual configuration, we also provide four fixed equipment packages for the RAGE 3 R CF, designed to make the selection of suitable components easier for customers. The build kits are our recommendations to our customers, as this is how we would build our own bikes.

Research and Development

During development, our frames undergo extensive rounds on the test bench at our HQ in Vogt. In load tests with over 500,000 load cycles per frame, they are tested for performance, stress, and durability. All frames are tested well beyond the prescribed standards, ensuring that our new Rage 3 R CF frames are classified in category 5.
