Kogel Debuts First-Ever Corrosion Resistant Bearings w/ Multi-Condition Seals 5

Combining a proprietary hardened stainless steel race with premium ceramic bearings improves smoothness and longevity.

Kogel Bearings’ new CR (Corrosion Resistant) bicycle bearings are the first ever to combine a hardened, corrosion-resistant steel race with ceramic bearings and condition-specific seals.

”Kogel has always offered different seals for wet or dry conditions, and we’ve always used chrome steel for our ceramic bearings,” says founder Ard Kessels. “With our new proprietary, hardened stainless steel races, we can now offer cyclists the longest lasting and smoothest, best-protected bearings available.”

Kessels says most bearing brands choose between standard chrome “bearing” steel, which is ultra hard and durable, or stainless steel, which won’t rust but is softer and wears faster, particularly with ceramic bearings. Kogel’s new CR bearings use stainless steel treated with a proprietary hardening process, yielding a rust-proof bearing race that’s hard enough to hold up to our premium ceramic bearings.

”This combination provides riders with a perfect solution for any condition, with a bearing that’ll last for many, many years no matter where you ride,” says Kessels.

The new Kogel CR bearings will now be available as an upgrade in all bottom brackets and ship as standard in all of our aftermarket pulley wheels and the oversized pulleys in our Kolossos oversized derailleur cage, the stiffest derailleur pulley cage upgrade on the market.

muddy wet kolossosKogel CR bearings will also be available aftermarket for customers looking to upgrade existing components. Additional applications will come in the future. All CR bearings come with a new, longer 3-year very few questions asked warranty.

What else is new about Kogel CR?

Kogel CR bearings have new red and white seals to differentiate them visually. Just like our originals, we’ll offer Road (white) and Cross (red) bearing seals so you can optimize your components for your local conditions.

These new seal colors have the same functionality as our original Blue (road) and Green (cross) seals, and the shape is the same for all of them so you can swap and service your new or existing Kogel bearings with any of them.
