Press Release

Hope Releases EVO Crank in New 135mm Length – AVAILABLE NOW 1

How short do you want your cranks? Yes.

The news that we are launching a new 135mm crank-length option – and pushing short cranks to even shorter levels – will be manna from heaven for a select few: maybe you are a downhiller for whom the existing 155mm just isn’t short enough. Maybe you want a tougher option for your child’s bike. Whatever the reason, the EVO crank is now your go to choice in the full spectrum of Hope colours.

Catering To Every Niche

Why does a niche option matter to everyone else though? Well, at Hope we don’t plan for obsolescence. In fact, we deliberately make our products as adaptable and modular as possible. Choice is good, but sometimes our needs change. Our approach allows you to swap out only what you need to as “standards” change or hell, you just fancy a new colour to match your bike.

More than that; by taking a modular approach we are able to offer the wild and wonderful options that other manufacturers can’t – we don’t need to tool up for an entire new crankset for each configuration. Of course, it helps that we design and manufacture everything in-house in Barnoldswick, meaning we can seamlessly fit a new option into the range.

At one level, everyone is their own personal niche. That’s why the EVO crank has 300 different theoretical configurations – whether it is crank length, axle options or chainring offsets and sizes – each are swappable.

“My new frame is Super Boost” – just buy the correct axle length and swap everything else across.

“I want a larger Q-factor for increased frame clearance, but still need a 52mm Boost chainline” – again, swap to a longer axle and run a chainring with a larger offset.

“I have some EVO cranks on my trail bike, but I want to swap them to my downhill bike” – you get the idea. Crank length, axle length – all interchangeable.

“My daughter has started riding and I want to upgrade her bike with my old EVO cranks” – not only can you swap the crank length, you can tailor the chainring size to her needs and the colour to her favourite choice.

Sustainable, economical, long lasting performance. It’s the only way we know how to do things.
