Whitefish Bike Park opens for summer 2017 on June 17

Whitefish Bike Park 2017 Season Pass on sale now, $215 for unlimited access 

WHITEFISH, MT – June 12, 2017 – The eagerly awaited mountain biking season begins Saturday, June 17 at the Whitefish Bike Park with two lifts and 22 trails. In spite of a tremendous winter season with more than 400 inches of snowfall, all but two trails, Runaway Train and GNR, will open this Saturday. There will be trail re-routes in place at the summit. The Whitefish Bike Park encompasses more than 30 miles of mountain bike trails including 24 lift-accessed trails in three zones serviced by two chairlifts and will be open daily through Labor Day and Friday-Sunday in September with lift-access 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“Thanks to the hard work of our small yet illustrious trail crew, we will be celebrating Opening Day of the downhill mountain biking season with more than 90 percent of the park including our award-winning trail Kashmir and the newest trail for our expert riders, ‘Maiden,’ which was just completed in the Bad Rock Zone,” said Josh Knight events and recreation manager at Whitefish Mountain Resort. “Last year’s addition of the Bad Rock Zone proved popular with new trails for beginners along with more advanced trails for our experienced riders to warm-up or get in fast laps on the Bad Rock chair. The new Maiden trail adds to the experience for the advanced rider while our new Strider Bike Park will allow future mountain bikers to hone their skills.”

As part of the resort’s dedication to providing trails for all levels, Whitefish Mountain Resort is excited to open its new Strider Bike Park. Now 2-6 year olds can practice their balance and riding skills on pedal-less bikes through the Strider Bike Park located next to the Base Lodge patio. Strider Balance Bikes break down the basics of learning how to ride into a safe and natural progression. With feet safely on the ground, a rider is easily able to maneuver and ride the lightweight bikes on trails with berms and rollers. Full-day admission to the Strider Bike Park is just $12 and includes Strider Bike and helmet rental.

Whitefish Bike Park’s 2017 adult season pass is only $215 for unlimited lift-access and a junior or senior season pass is only $125. For a limited time 2016/17 Winter Season Pass holders can purchase an adult Bike Pass at just $195 and $103 for juniors and seniors. This discount is for the pass holder only and must be purchased by June 30, 2017. Single day lift access to the Whitefish Bike Park for adults is $38 for a full day or $27 for two hours. Junior and seniors are $27 for full day and $22 for two hours.    

Last summer’s inaugural “Learn to Bike Downhill” program proved successful and will be offered daily beginning July 1 thru September 4. For just $99, riders receive a 2-hour downhill mountain bike rental, protective gear including a full-face helmet, a Bad Rock Zone lift ticket, and a 2-hour downhill mountain bike lesson. More mountain bike lesson options are available. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Village Rentals at 406-862-1995.

Local riders look forward to the Thursday Night Race League every summer. The five-week race series is fun for all ages and skill levels and features a kids’ race, and cross-country racing for all levels. The weekly series begins July 13 and ends August 10. Downhillers can show off their skills with the Double Dip Downhill September 16.
