Sometimes You Have to Make a Change - Paul Basagoitia Living His Best in Venice Beach 1

Spend a day with Paul Bas as he rips the beach, catches laps, and rides into the sunset.

2022 marks a decade that Paul has been riding for SPANK Industries. In fact, the relationship was only in it’s 2nd year when Paul suffered his life-changing crash and spinal cord injury at the 2015 Redbull Rampage. Over the past 7 years, we have stood with Paul as he rejected the verdict that he would never walk again. We have been moved and inspired to watch his sheer determination, force of will and the enduring spirit that has seen him change the hand dealt to him.

Today, Paul’s transformation is one that is no less than miraculous, but it is a journey of recovery that continues to take an immense amount of work, physically and mentally, on a daily basis.

“Change is one of the best things for people to have in their lives but it’s not easy. It’s not easy to step outside your comfort zone. For me I needed to change my living situation. I never lived further than 30 miles from the house I grew up in. I had it all back home in Reno, but I was too comfortable, and I wasn’t growing as a person. Moving to Venice Beach has been one of the best decisions I made in my life. I’m a happier person, my mental health has improved, I’ve seen gains with my recovery, I’m stoked on where my riding is today, and… there’s no shortage of señorita‘s down here!” - Paul

We are stoked to present “A Day in the Life”, with Paul Bas. Sit back for a very relaxed 8-minutes, soak up the chilled vibes as Paul cruises his e-bike from his new home on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach to his daily workout at the famous Gold’s Gym to build and maintain the muscle mass he needs to keep pedaling. BMX-world’s Brad Simms joins Paul for some Santa Monica whip trains before they take in their van-life sundowners ahead of the Venice Electric Light Parade.

Paul – we salute you! (And we’re really digging your new pace!) Here’s to another 10 years together, and all the positive change life will keep on serving up!
