Pivot Cycles Presents New Events For Women - The Sunset Shred Series 1

The new Sunset Shred women’s ride series brings a unique blend of riding and social impact to over eleven U.S. and European markets in 2022.

Mixing local, grassroots networking and an ambitious goal to empower women in countries as diverse as Guatemala, Nepal, and Lesotho, Pivot Cycles launches a new event series for female-identifying riders. 100% of Sunset Shred proceeds benefit Moab, Utah-based World Ride.

Together with presenting partner DT Swiss, and supporting sponsors 10 Barrel Brewing and Wild Rye, Pivot Cycles’ Sunset Shred will bring a full slate of fundraising activities to life in 2022, including today’s launch of a sweepstakes with an all-new Pivot Shadowcat grand prize. Each Sunset Shred features a welcome reception, guided intermediate riding, a full fleet of high-performance demo bikes, sponsor swag packs, fully hosted post-ride dinner, and a film screening by 501c3 beneficiary World Ride. The new Sunset Shred Series launched February 24 with a sold-out effort in Tempe, Arizona at Pivot Cycles’ world headquarters, with the next event in Southern California on March 16.

“We’ve leaned into what matters for female-identifying riders” says Pivot’s Senior Brand Strategist, Elorie Slater. “It is important to have fun on a group ride or to learn new skills, but we also know how important it is for women to give back to mountain biking. For many of us, it’s a sport that’s changed our lives. Our partnership with World Ride is about exactly that: changing lives.”

Julie Cornelius, Founder, and Director of World Ride builds bike libraries for women in developing nations. These bike libraries provide a pathway to recreation, career, and competition for local women. World Ride supports first aid training, helps women get mountain bike guide and instructor certifications, coordinates destination trips that employ local female guides, and provides financial support to a select number of racers. “World Ride is committed to the long-term vision of helping create more opportunity for women”, says Cornelius, a member of the Female Founder Collective.

Registration is open now for the next Sunset Shred, in Tustin, California on March 16th, with Pivot professional athlete Kialani Hines joining as ride leader. In addition to the ride series and current fundraising efforts, Pivot Cycles and Sunset Shred sponsors will host a World Ride trip to Guatemala in October.
