Pivot Cycles Launches the All-New Shadowcat 5

Shadowcat? Yes, Shadowcat. Lithe, agile, sharp, fast and fun, the Shadowcat is a trail-carving expression of blazing speed and feline creative mayhem. Pivot’s latest offering capitalizes on the acceleration and responsiveness of 27.5” wheels and acclaimed dw-link suspension to bring to life a bike that offers transformative capability for riders of every stripe, delivering inspiration and confidence to beginners and at the same time giving pros the creative weaponry they need to push their riding to the next level.

Lithe

A new frame that weighs less than our impressively light Trail 429 frame. Heck, the Shadowcat’s carbon front and rear triangle weigh only 45 grams more than our featherlight Mach 4SL. We’re replacing the beloved Mach 5.5 with a 140mm ripper of a bike that weighs less than a lot of dedicated XC machines. Super-low standover; small kittens and playful cats rejoice!

Agile

Seriously, it’s as if people have forgotten just how awesome 27.5” wheels can be. Shadowcat is here to remind everyone of that awesomeness. Big wheels may roll beautifully, but if you really want to get rowdy, 27.5” is where it’s at.

Sharp

Light, tight, and laser focused. Fox DPS shock, 160mm 36 fork. Ridiculously light wheels shod with aggressive, fast rolling Maxxis Dissector tires. Instant acceleration, eye-blink direction changes. Balanced, agile, the entire bike designed to deliver unbelievable responsiveness.

Fast

Incredibly capable dw-link suspension kinematics allow 140mm of travel to pedal with more snap and climb faster than many 120mm bikes. Serious lightweight. Cheetah chasing down an antelope acceleration. The soul of a trail shredder with the legs of Usain Bolt.

Fun

Progressive geometry melds super-confident handling with lightning-fast reflexes. A hyper-responsive lightweight with enough travel and refinement to easily swallow huge moves in big terrain. Wheel size perfectly mated to shock tune, delivering incredible responsiveness uphill, downhill, and in the air. One word perfectly sums up the design goal of the Shadowcat: FUN.
