The sunny plateau of Verbier hosted anotheredition of the annual E-Bike Festival this weekend. In addition to a wide rangeof activities and exhibitions, the five-day event featured again this year witha round of the Bosch EMTB Challenge. The race, with a total of 35 kms, had sixtimed special tests – one of them uphill and several crossing checkpoints.
With about 120 participants in this gradualreturn to European competitions after the pandemic, and among the best athletesin the sport, Miranda Factory Team was present and had Tiago Ladeira andEmanuel Pombo representing their colors.
Ladeira would even become one of the mainprotagonists of the event, securing a win in five out of the six special teststhat made up the competition. The Miranda Factory Team athlete took 2nd placeless than 2 seconds from the winner. In the end, Ladeira commented: “I'm feelingpretty good physically, as well as on the bike. I had a good pace and dominatedpart of the race. I'm happy with this result and I'm sure it was an excellenttraining session for the EWS-E. A special thank you to Miranda for providing mewith all the conditions to be at the highest level”.
After his brilliant victory in theMegavalanche, Emanuel Pombo showed up in Switzerland very motivated.Unfortunately, a mechanical setback on the rear brake, right in the firstspecial test, would compromise the result of the Madeiran athlete. Looking tominimize the damage and risking a lot, Emanuel Pombo would finish thecompetition in third place. “I had to do most of the race without a rearbrake. Overall, I have to be happy because besides having finished the race, Imanaged to get on the podium. I also want to congratulate my team mate Ladeirafor the excellent result”.
The next competition for Miranda Factory Team will be thefirst round of the EWS-E taking place at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana.Joining the two “veterans” Emanuel Pombo and Tiago Ladeira, will be thenewcomer Nuno Reis.
