MRP Teams Up With SRAM 7

Here's some interesting news from the Taipei show - MRP has teamed up with SRAM.  They will be spec'ing their guide with Truvativ XO cranks in the near future.


"Paul Aieta had the right product at the right time to help SRAM boost the shifting performance of its X-Glide 2x10 crankset. And Aieta, vice president of sales and marketing for MRP, is leaving the Taipei show and returning to Grand Junction, Colorado, all smiles.
His company will supply a co-branded chain guide that can be spec’d with SRAM’s Truvativ XO cranks. “It’s becoming more understood that chain guide management is critical to performance. It’s no longer an application just for downhill bikes,” Aieta said. SRAM will deliver the MRP chain guide and skid plate in May for both aftermarket sales and OEM installation..."

Yes, the guide pictured is the X0 single ring guide. We are working on a 2x guide...cheers.

Hardly, since it has an upper cage as well. That isn't needed on a dual ring setup where you have a derailleur.

Kind of confusing how the article states its for 2x10 cranks but the device is obviously for a single ring set up. Does it just acount for the narrow chain line of a 2x10 crank?

To be honest, i don't care who owns the patents . I just want the option to have a 2x10 drivetrain, the SRAM (or XC XTR) kind, where the chainline is adjusted for a 2 ring front setup. So that means the only way to get a bash is a taco style protector. And that doesn't exist yet in a 2 ring setup.

Yes, i know most, if not all, enduro bikes don't have strong enough tabs. But at the moment i'm on 140 mm travel bike and i only ever put a 44t ring on the ground - on my first ride, when i wasn't used to the bike squating (coming off a 6 year XC racing 'career'). So the bash would be there just for the 'what if' moment, not to take masive advantage of it.

Interesting comment, as the 'Taco' is an E-13 thing that came along after the fact, and it's actually MRP who has the patent coverage for these kind of products.
