Press Release

Josh Bryceland Officially on Cannondale, Hints at DH Racing - Exclusive Interview 19

Rat's new ride announcement is official, a new DH bike is hinted at and young talent is part of the new Cannondale Sessions squad.

You may remember a few months back when we found out through Rob Roskopp that Josh Bryceland would no longer be with Santa Cruz. Fast-forward to a few days ago and the rumors of Ratboy on a Cannondale were all but sealed as footage of Sir Ratness on a C-Dale was leaked. Today the rumors are officially laid to rest as Cannondale makes the announcement of Josh and two young, local rippers (Sam Hockenhull and Sam Cofano) joining him on Cannondale. They'll rally rowdy ruts with the young Max Nerurkar, already part of Cannondale.

Nick Larsen, Creative Director at Cannondale, was a major reason for Josh heading to the brand. Nick stoked us out with this exclusive interview filmed by Alex Rankin. There are some interesting and unexpected insights in the interview:

  • Ratty hinting at racing DH more (doesn't mention World Cup but says iXS and Crankworx)
  • The possibility of Cannondale developing a new DH bike
  • "Many new bikes" that Cannondale will release over the next three to four years
  • Josh and the Cannondale Sessions crew riding alloy bikes (like the new Habit) because they're affordable and accessible to younger riders

The spirits are high, the style is oozing and the roost is flying in the hills as rut tracks and scrub bluffs are detonating. Enjoy the interview and get stoked for 2019 with Bryceland on a new whip.

MOUNTAIN BIKING’S WORST KEPT SECRET

Introducing Cannondale Sessions

He was recently spotted riding the all-new Cannondale Habit, today we make it official.

Josh Bryceland (@ratboy_bryce) leads a newly formed crew of emerging mountain bike riders, including Sam (aka Dave) Hockenhull (@samhockenhull), Max Nerurkar (@3_dumb) and youngster Sam Cofano (@samcofano).

“I wanted to start something new, fresh and unexpected.” said Bryceland. “This is a way to build something and give back to the next generation of riders.”

All four riders chose the Habit alloy models for a recent trip to Spain.  Check back in a week for an extended edit.

This is just a taste of what this upcoming year will look like.

Welcome to Cannondale.
