On June  17-19, 2011, an impressive roster of mountain biking’s most decorated athletes will compete in the Triple DHip mountain bike race at the SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch in Granby, CO.   The downhill mountain bike stage race will see competitors contesting three stages over two days to earn their share of a $25,000 cash purse.

Greg Minnaar, a 29 year-old professional racers from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, highlights an impressive list of athletes attending the Triple DHip.  Riding for Santa Cruz Bicycles and SRAM/Rockshox, the multi-time World Cup and World Champion is excited to compete in Colorado for the first time in nearly a decade.  He added, “I’ve heard good things about SolVista Bike Park and look forward to the opportunity to check it out, first-hand.”

Also competing will be multi-time U.S. national champion Duncan Riffle, riding for the Giant Bicycles Factory Off-Road Team.  He’ll be seeking to avenge a string of bad luck suffered at the past two national championship events, held at the SolVista Bike Park.  “The Triple DHip will give me another opportunity to show Colorado how fast I can go.”  Noting the town of Granby’s sponsorship of the event via a huge $25,000 pro purse, Riffle quipped, “I’m coming to grab a chunk of that cash!”

Andrew Neethling, Riffle’s teammate on the Giant squad, will surely be in the mix as well.  Although a resident of Somerset West, South Africa, Neethling is no stranger to international competition as he’s been travelling the world as a professional gravity racer for the better part of ten years.  Neethling notes, “I’ve had the opportunity to ride at SolVista before, but not the chance to compete.”

Australian Mick Hannah will also be competing at this year’s Triple DHip for Team GT.  Hannah, now a resident of Buena Vista, is anxious to finally compete at a venue nearer to his adopted home.  “I’m excited to race close to home and to bring my kids to a great family-friendly resort like Granby Ranch.”

Other athletes slated to attend are prolific U.S. riders Kyle Strait, Mitch Ropelato, Curtis Keene, and Brad Benedict.  All having extensive international competition experience and having earned numerous accolades, these riders lend a depth to the field not seen in Colorado since the 2002 World Cup in Telluride.
