Three Stops, 36 Hours of Intense Downhill Action, and $15,000 in Prizes
WHO: Solo, Duo and Team riders, competing in Pro & Expert divisions, will push the limits in this 12-hour MTB downhill challenge. Riders can enter one event or ride all three stops in the series. Riders are expected from across the country.
WHAT: The 4th annual Red Bull Final Descent series, a mountain biking challenge that pushes riders to the brink and back, over some of the most technically challenging terrain in North America, returns in 2012 with more riders, more competition, and more mountain. The format of the event is simple: riders can choose from courses of varying difficulty; after 12 uninterrupted hours of extreme mountain riding, the competitor in each division with the most laps wins. Each stop in the series offers a $5,000 cash purse for the Pro Divisions and gear from industry partners Oakely, Fox, Troy Lee and 5.10 Shoes for the Expert Divisions. The overall series winners—the male and female rider who posts the most laps (by distance) combined for all events—takes home an additional $500 and ultimate end-of-season bragging rights. The Red Bull Final Descent started as “The Burner,” a 12-hour downhill mountain bike endurance race at Angel Fire and has blossomed into a competitive downhill series. For the fourth year in a row it has pushed downhill mountain bike riders to their limits.
Riders can register online through race weekend at www.active.com (search Red Bull Final Descent). Registration opens May 1st, 2012. All stops have a 200 rider cap so register early.
