With all the schedule changes today, the juniors were made to stay up past their bedtime as they had to wait until the very end of the day to drop into their qualifying runs. On the plus side, the track was improving with every passing rider, so they got to enjoy the best conditions of the day as they made their bids to secure a spot in tomorrow's finals (10 junior women and 25 junior men go through from qualifying).
In the junior women's category, it was the usual 1-2-3 for New Zealand, with newly crowned double Junior World Champ Erice van Leuven in third place behind Sacha Earnest and Eliana Hulsebosch. One of this year's revelations, Sweden's Ella Svegby, had a slow run and failed to secure a spot in tomorrow's final.
In the junior men's class, Max Alran was in a league of his own, putting over six seconds into last week's Junior World Champ Asa Vermette in second place. Max's brother Till rounded out the top three. Time to rack 'em and stack 'em for finals tomorrow - the juniors will be free to watch on the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series YouTube channel, so be sure to tune in and enjoy the show!
Now is a good time to make your Vital Downhill Fantasy picks!
