UPDATE - 11am EST March 12 - Overnight, the Windrock Bike Park and pit area for the Tennessee National sustained heavy storm damage as a strong cold front pushed through with high winds, freezing temperatures and accumulating snow. Saturday's downhill final was called off for obvious safety and logistical concerns and qualifying/seeding times for Pro and Cat 1 will be submitted as final. We'll update as we get more news. Thankfully we have no news of injury. Windrock is asking that people stay away from the venue today.

Aaron Gwin posted updates from Steve Walton on his stories showing some of the carnage.
Qualifying went down this afternoon at the Tennessee National under fair weather and relatively dry conditions. The track was running fast, with only a few greasy spots to keep riders on their toes.
In the Elite Men’s class, Dakotah Norton slotted his new Intense prototype downhill bike into first place by over 6 seconds, with a mix of California and British Columbia young guns filling the top 10. After being only a second back at the first split, Aaron Gwin finished 16 seconds back in 12th place. Assuming something happened during the second half of his qualifying run, tomorrow should be interesting if Aaron can put a full run together. Kailey Skelton took the top spot in the Elite Women's field with Frida Ronning hot on her heels just .55-seconds back, followed by Gracey Hemstreet only a few seconds back in third.
Tomorrow is a race day, and you know what that means? Weather! The forecast is calling for 3 to 5-inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow morning, with mostly clear skies and a high of 30-degrees during the day. The race is still on as of right now. Stay tuned for the excitement!
