Hello guys and gals! I am currently developing a DH game, it's been an adventure of mine for the better part of the last three years. The game focus is on realism and getting the controls to feel like you are riding a bike in the real world. You can pump, pull on the handlebars or push through your feet, for example.
I will be posting videos and info here regularly, if you have any questions or want to help, you can reach me here or at german@downhillproracer.com
Cheers!
Edit: Please keep in mind that it is at an early development stage, not a finished game.
Edit: Updated with new trailer
If you like it, you can get it in the Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2266200/Downhill_Pro_Racer/

physics look wonky af
If there’s level of control shown. That’d be rad.
Thanks! The game is focused on picking a line an trying to ride it fast. The controls include manuals, bunny hops, weight distribution, etc.
Nothing is pre-animated, including the whips.
You can check out the features here:

Hello, I have been testing the first person view, looks promising! Maybe VR in the future, could be epic.
Looks cool - if there's a way to somehow give the bike and the rider their own separate physics to some degree, I think that would be a game changer. I've always thought on MX games or back on Downhill Domination etc that it would be good if the bike could behave separately to the rider when there's changes of direction - based on speed, braking, turning angle, terrain etc - would make it seem more realistic then in turns as the rider and bike never moves exactly in sync in real life, it's always one before the other follows if that makes sense.
Slippery roots, watch out!
Thank you for your comment! The rider reacting to the bike's forces definitely is a big one. The thing with MTB games is that controlling a bike in rough terrain is in fact, a very complex task, and translating that into a gamepad controller is really difficult.
So historically, MTB games tend to simplify the track and the controls, so it ends up being a 20m wide highway, and your only task left is going match-3 and scoring points on huge ramps.
This game tries to change that. Doing a little manual over a stump and being precise with your lines is soo rewarding.
New bike for the game! It is a prototype, vaguely looks like a...

Hope you like it!
This video game should be a good one, looks just like mx simulator and has the feedback from the people to get better
Thanks! Here is the new trailer for you:
I can see graphics are getting better. Suspension travel looks good, obviously there's room for improvements.
Terrain looks "floaty"
Besides that, that's a pretty good project you got there.
I would love to play it sometime.
New video!
Good job, is not bad.
Leg and hips looks so much stiff, it would be nice if they can be more flexible
The game is out now!
Early Release version, still lots of updates to come. You can check it out here:

Hope to see some cool edits by VitalMTB'ers soon! Have fun guys
PC only or playable on Mac too?
PC only for now, sorry!
New track!
Youtuber Lynds makes a first look review for the game, enjoy!
why don‘t you utilize the second stick for rider weight movement? cornering looks not real, rider should lean in more on those banked turns
If the game allowed you to sit in a garage and customize bikes with an infinite list of parts I would buy it in a heartbeat lol.
A few people have commented on customising the controls. It will be available in a future update.
I reckon the rider movements can be implemented in just one stick though. The reasoning behind this is that if you are hanging off the back (in real life), you are not going to be able to turn much anyways.
So the left/right lean input is maximized when the rider is centered on the bike, allowing for front/back leaning on the same stick. You don't need a separate control for that, IMO.
Left stick makes more sense to me, because it allows for button pushing at the same time.
In tall berm corners, pumping with RT while leaned over, makes the rider body lean with the bike. In flat corners, the body and the bike have different lean angles
Looks really cool! I'll check it out, thanks.
I like bike games, but I haven't tried this one. Thanks for sharing.
I play games a lot, but it is pretty hard to find one that I'd enjoy for a long time and that doesn't make me get bored fast. I'm currently playing mostly on ทางเข้าUFABET and even make some money there when it is my day. But it is great to discover new good games. Downhill Pro Racer tonight!
update: new trailer! Hope you like it!
