via email, here's the PR

Immediate release: 5-Time World champion Loic Bruni prepares for season start, and uses MX for crossover training.

Five-Time Downhill Mountainbike World Champion and esteemed icon prepares for the opening round in Lenzerheide, June 9-11, of his 2023 World Cup Season, utilizing motocross to enhance his performance.

There are numerous distinctions between a mountain bike and a dirt bike, including weight, the impact of shifting body weight, propulsion, maintenance, noise, machine complexity, brake placement, and, of course, riding locations. Despite these evident differences between the two machines, engaging in one style of riding can serve as excellent crossover training for the other. We sat down with Bruni to hear his comments and explain why the crossover training between the two disciplines is even more closely intertwined.

¨I spend a lot of time on my bike but I also love motocross. The Stark VARG for sure feels way closer to a mountain bike than a normal Moto does. It´s like way more instinctive. You don’t feel the weight as you do if you were to ride a normal moto. Everything feels playful. In the turn, I can brake way harder. Set the bike up and rotate it way quicker. It´s way closer to what I do but at the same time, it is also exciting because I feel like I´m going faster…Even today for the first time on the Stark, I felt already more stylish and comfortable than I do on a normal bike. I am so happy to ride the Stark because I feel more at home; the perfect combination of what I like because I can go maybe even on some trails in the mountains without bothering anyone´

As a five-time elite World Champion, French rider Bruni has already established himself as one of the greatest downhill mountain bike racers of all time. Loic's passion for mountain biking emerged at a young age, and these days, it is a familiar sight to see him on the podium. In addition to being a six-time UCI Downhill World Champion and a two-time UCI Downhill World Cup winner, Bruni is also a huge motocross enthusiast.

´When I rode the bike I could hear everything…tire wise…also the chain a little bit. I could hear so much more and I could talk to who I was with which is also closer to mountain biking. It is weird because they feel like new noises that you would think you would never hear on the bike… and it's way cooler than I expected¨

Regrettably, an unfortunate reality in the sport is the increasing closure of motocross tracks due to noise complaints. This limits the choices available to dirt bike lovers for their riding locations. Bruni firmly believes that the VARG will play a significant role in revitalizing those options once again.

´In France, many tracks are closing because people are over it. They want their Sunday to chill with the family, have a BBQ and not hear every guy ripping around the track. A bonus is I will soon get to go to many more tracks that will hopefully open because there is no noise and everything can be neighborhood friendly. Hopefully, then we can have tracks everywhere even in the cities… that is for me the biggest upgrade for the motocross industry and a new hope. For me, I don’t want to drive 3 hours to a track because it´s in the middle of nowhere. I want to drive 10 minutes.´

There are often comparisons made between riding an electric motocross bike and a mountain bike. Skills such as choosing the optimal line, brake control, and maintaining smoothness can be transferred from mountain biking to motocross. If you are an avid mountain biker, there are numerous reasons to give an electric dirt bike a try, including effective training, skill enhancement, and, most importantly, the enjoyment factor, as Loic Bruni has discovered firsthand! - https://www.starkfuture.com

"neighborhood friendly"....like everyone in the neighborhood is gonna allow a bulldozer & epic mud flows when it rains.

Electric moto isn't gonna get motos close to the neighbors, but it might keep existing tracks from getting shut down sooner.

There is a lot of places in se pa that would allow moto if not for the noise and the gas.  The difference between driving an hr from the city or 30 from the burbs rather than double that or more would be huge for people.

It makes some sense to use this vs a normal dirt bike. You can have rear brake as a hand lever instead of foot lever. Seems like it'd make moto a lot more intuitive or muscle memory for a mountain biker. I know I sorta find it awkward for the first 10 minutes or so after not riding moto for a long time.

"Stark Varg" in Swedish means "Strong Wolf". So now you know that. Smile

My point being that moto tracks are big pits of either mud or dust. You can silence them but the cloud of dust boiling or the river of mud run off makes "suburban" moto tracks a still mythical creature.

I just now came back to watch the video...but it's not the one with Bruni I've already seen on Gypsy Tales.
Here's the discussion for anyone interested:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YcBy9uPfmE

And a fairly recent video of Jace riding it without any music dubbed in so you can actually hear it:  https://youtu.be/A3NrZSr1j-4?t=387

This. Moto is still gonna go away eventually (- banned by the greens, ecologists, conservationists, etc.), but maybe by switching to electric engines we can somewhat prolong the inevitable.

Makes a ton of sense for MTBers to prefer these over gas/regular motos. Brakes, feel, sound. Will see more of this for sure in the future.
Speaking of the future... Supercross will probably try to ban electric as long as possible since they will be faster than the gas and more importantly, nearly silent (comparatively). E-motos would kill the stadium vibe of engines roaring, throttle twisting, etc. A race of 20 of these Starks would sound like toys going around the track.

They just to spend money to get Kevin James & Vince Vaughn to recreate that authentic sound with subwoofers and electronics.

Came here for the Bruni on MX track vids, didn't find them.

which is why I posted the video of Jace riding it.  Every video of the Varg knows the sound is shit so they dub in a song over the "motor" whining. It was the only one I could find that was actual audio of the bike.
