Hope Tech v4’s

the tech 4 levers are awesome, i suggest going full t4v4 setup.
I rate them above everything else except maybe trickstuff.

They have alot of control, backed by all the power my fat 100kg ass needs.

I too am very curious about running these. I currently have Shigura setup (XTR9020/MT7) and I’ve found it difficult to control when riding slower steep sections that are off camber. It’s too easy to lock up the wheels and I find myself focusing too much on how light I need to be with the lever pulls. I also notice that the power tends to drop off right after the initial bite. This is really noticeable if there’s any bit of contamination on pads/rotors. I do like the power they provide but in certain situations they do seem to be lacking it. Anyone gone from Shigura to T4/V4’s and happy they did so? 

rode them for 4 months. they were perfect! good bite point, agressive, and the modulation was top. all of a sudden one brake didn't work anymore. had complete brake failures during two races. 

found out i'm not the only one. two shops told me they wouldn't even touch V4's anymore

frome the same shop where i bought them, 8 customers. the importeur dealer wasn't aware of a problem. meanwhile we all changed to other brakes. most went for codes or new hayes

so if you need a slightly used hope v4 black for a bargain, tell me.

I have 2 set of V4E4 and love them. Very like lever pull and very progressive power. You can drag or make them lock with more pressure. They do not bite like Shimano. I run the green pad in rear and red up front. My DH bike had for a about a year. Prob 100+ laps and no issues.

I came off code then magura and could never get consistent rides with magura.

Weird, big group of us who ride them here and zero issues, i've had mine since the release so...

I feel like the v4 has a slightly stronger feel throughout which means less finger pressure IMO.

I’ve gone from m8100/mt7 to the E4 and found my braking control has improved significantly, loved the initial power and bite of the shigura setup but found much more consistent control with the new hope brakes. The only negative is the pistons can move TOO freely and sometimes that leads to inconsistent lever feel, all sorted by pushing the pistons back and resetting which takes no time at all. 

Make sure you got a local shop that actively works on Hope brakes. I've had 3 shops work on a set of t3 e4s to get them feel right. I really like a Hope brake when they are set up perfectly, but I have had nothing but issues getting my to feel good. 

Working on bikes isn’t rocket science. If you want shit done right you will always be better off doing it yourself. My lbs’s are pretty ignorant when it comes to mtb unfortunately. So I had to learn how to work on my own brakes. Turns out, it’s easy!

Been running the Tech4 master cylinders on E4 calipers (I upgraded the pistons myself) since they came out. Astonishing amounts of power delivered very smoothly and with huge amounts of modulation.

Yes, they can be a bit more picky about setup than some brakes, but it's not hard and 10mins spent aligning everything perfectly makes a lot of difference.

Saying that, one lever has developed an issue with soft bite point, even after multiple bleeds and MC seal replacement. Hope's customer service (in the UK, at least) is sensational - told me to just send it in and they'll fix it.

The other one has performed flawlessly throughout. Bled once when setting it up, haven't touched it since.

man i just wish the blue was matching or at least being close to the industry nine blue, it's far off
