6 venues confirmed, some new exciting tracks joining the Series

Monaco (P.ty) Monday 27 February 2023 – WES Management SARL and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) are glad to announce the 2023 racing calendar for the UCI E-Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Cup.

Unveiling the 2023 Racing Calendar

Since its debut back in 2019, the traditional WES Season Opener is the Monaco Round, taking place next 20-21 May. For the first time, the event will take place in the area of Breil-sur-Roya, with brand-new, exciting racetracks designed on a breathtaking mountain area overlooking the Monaco Principality Bay.

The second round is confirmed to be Bologna, Italy on 10-11 June, a promising event, once again organised in collaboration with the local specialists of electric bikes, working on the E-MTB education to explore the regional mountain chain.

Following the summer break and the UCI World Championships, the third stop will be at the iconic F1 Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on a date to be announced, followed by two rounds on consecutive weekends: the Sea Otter Europe Round in Girona, Spain on the 22-23 and the French Round of Clermont-Ferrand one week later, on 30 September – 1 October. The last round of the season will be in Barcelona, Spain, on 21 October, where the overall winners of the season will be awarded.

The UCI E-MTB XC World Cup race format is confirmed for the upcoming season: with the exception of Barcelona, two separate races every Round (i.e., in one weekend), with separate classifications and podium ceremonies. Women and Men riders will once again compete together, same race start with separate standings.

Although the race application fees for teams and riders will stay the same as for 2022, this year’s prize moneys are significantly increasing to encourage both loyal and new applicants to participate in the UCI E-MTB XC World Cup, the first-ever UCI E-MTB international competition, pioneer in the format.
Teams and Riders can apply now at a special rate.

Register Now for WES Racing Season!

National wildcards can request an international UCI daily licence to register for the WES World Cup. However, holding a permanent UCI licence provides extra sporting benefits listed on the UCI website.

Top 15 Women and top 15 Men riders in the 2023 UCI E-MTB XC World Cup standings as of 13 June 2023 will get reserved quota places for the E-MTB XC race at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships taking place next 9 August in Scotland (Great Britain).

Trek cancelled the electric supercaliber too soon!

I can understand why e-enduro exists.  Just about anyway.  but e-XC... wtf?

Nice, it is the world cup of Europe.

Interesting to have a world cup for an activity that nobody is riding (I don't see any XC guy, riding xc-ebike on xc trails). Afaik there are no or barely any e-xc bikes (I would imagine a superlight 100mm/hardtail with super powerful motor).
I assume it would be just a race of opportunists riding some trail/enduro e-bike on some lame xc loop.
Is it not a waste of money when so much could be done to support "traditional" mtb, a real discipline with real committed riders?

More or less this series appeared a couple of years ago as both XC and enduro and tried to establish itself as the main series. It seems EWS (now EDR) won the mindspace of the public, so WES appears to be going all in on the XC side.

I did one event (just a course ride similar to the EWS-100 idea), it was a ghost town.

I don't get top level e bike racing full stop, but e-bike xc is just plain silly. E-bikes are for 'assisting' riders up hills for whatever reason. (which is fine).

Regional racing with e-bike categories is a tricky one, as it's great for people who are unable to do a day's pedaling due to age/health etc. But unfortunately the categories are mainly just full of lazy people now who are new'ish to the sport and have a shortcut to being able to do a big enduro loop. Us established folk who have put the miles in are just bitter, but that's ok.

BUT, since when did world class athletes need pedal assistance?

Marketing bs, hopefully it flops.
