More trail closures in San Diego County.
So far we have upper Anderson, trails in Jamul, Santee Lakes, South Sycamore, and now Ted Williams all closed off this year. Most of this is private land that has been ridden on for years. Santee Lakes and south Sycamore are combined private and military land.
The 25 acres of private land at Meadow Brook/Ted Williams was bulldozed again and a new no trespassing sign was posted today. The sheriff's department was asked to provide enforcement. Local municipalities will be looking at the trails above the private land as well.

Heard a rumor that upper Anderson was plowed for a fire break?

I have more photos I can post later. Walked around early yesterday morning to see how bad it was, this time they got pretty much everything in the lower area and got the dozen further up the sand bags line and took them all out. It's clear this time they're trying to shut the whole hill down with the no trespassing sign. I didn't make it to the top to see if they had anything posted there yet. Also heard rumors they're soon be removing all the trails by hand.
Such a bummer for DH in San Diego, so many consider that hill their home trails like I did.
Interestingly, the main up trail on the Poway side and about 5-6 other trails appear to be official open space trails. This being said, the city of Poway supposedly shut down a couple "official trails" on the south of Meadowbrook last year by declaring them part of an ecological preserve.
It's difficult to piece together everything that is going on, but it seems someone or some agency might be heading up an overall closure of this area to MTB use. Several of us are going to try and find out more from members of the Poway city council.
This is what's left of the pond area, only "Big Pond" still stands...
The old jumpline on the way out which has been flattened for months was re-flattened and left with these huge ruts.
Where the little rock jump was between the bushes as you exit the area.
Looking towards the pond "dam" from the mattress jump which was taken out, too.
This is looking towards the end of Split-Rock from the last jump before the pedal out that was just rebuilt.
From Steve:
Call to arms...Please, nobody poach at TW for the next 48hrs while I'm negotiating. Share this with any friends that want Teds back to life, or just text them. Help me show we are united. No tires on the ground, no citations. And a big thank you to Poway mayor Steve Vaus for his assistance in this.
