I have at least one problem, and that is bikes.

Yes, plural. I really love bikes. And I really love consuming everything there is to know about new bikes and new super bikes that I never will afford. It is somewhat a hobby, and something I like doing.

But.

It makes me less happy with the bike I got.

I have a 2016 On-one Codeine 275 with some good parts, some old parts and some cheap. The best might be the suspension, a almost new Sr suntour Durolux 160mm. And a Cane creek DB inline. I love all the settings, and now i got a really good feel on the suspension. The A to C is a bit to long, but gives me a slack HA and still a 10mm bb-drop and a 1200mm wheelbase. Reach is about 430mm, medium frame. Im not a big guy, so the bike feels like it fits real good.

But still, I windowshop for bikes(online, since i dont live near any LBS to demo bikes). And I feel like a want something brand new. Longer, slacker, lower. And 29er.
And I am really close to pull the trigger on a new bike, been checking out: Pole, Cotic, YT, Canyon, Radon.

But some part of me think that it is crazy, and i need help.

Do i need to sell and buy a new bike just b/c the trends and sizes change..

So.. help? Anyone else suffering form this?

(thanks for listening)

I get the same urges and then I just go ride my bike and return with a big smile and forget about it. I don't have the bank account or desire to upgrade constantly. But, if you got the money, buy whatever you want, it's a free country. Riding bikes is about having fun, so if you are having fun, you are doing something right!!!

Pretty much what dtimms33 said, if you have money and you think you need new bike then go ahead. Bikes are supposed to get better every year so you will certainly gain something...

On the other hand, I ride banshee spitfire 2016 with 26" wheels and while I really dont have money for new bike I also know I don't need new one because this one is simply sick!

I bought into the whole longer/slacker thing and bought longer frames until i was happy.

Didn't notice anything crazy until the final frame. At 5'10" I am really more comfortable everywhere at 530mm reach once the stem is accounted for. Insanely comfortable like this, shaving 5 seconds off personal bests and the like.

Just try to find a bike with more reach that you still fit on when climbing.

*From a guy who thought 430mm reach was perfect, and smaller bikes jump better lol. One big hoax.

What frame did you end up with?

I went for a great deal on a Cube stereo C62 150 SL 29er size large.

I was really considering the Pole evolink, but the spec i got on the Cube was to good to pass up.

THe cube dosent have a crazy geo, but the size large comes with a reach of 457, paired with a 35mm stem. I am 179 cm (maybe 5,9?) so I think this should be all good! And for climbing it should be real good with a steep SA.

I got an XL transition patrol, coming from a L patrol it was easy to make comparisons as they are basically the same except one is over an inch longer.

I thought i would end up going to a 32mm stem, but i tried it and ended up sticking with 50mm.

The L was a more comfortable climber for sure, but I feel like superman on the descents lol. Definitely not for everybody, have to be super animated on the bike to maintain traction and whatnot.

Cool stuff!

Did you notice the seat tube length as something negative going from L to XL? It is my only concern with the new bike(has been shipped, cant wait!) is the seat tube might be a bit long. 470mm. And comes with a 150mm dropper.
