Most people who know me know I'm a financial analyst by day. Figured a few fellow nerds would like to take a look at Fox Factory's (FOXF) Q2 results and guidance...
At first I put the takeaways below the meat and potatoes of the earnings release. Then I realized most people that look at this will have that deer-in-headlights look just gazing at some random numbers, so I figured I'd switch it and throw the takeaways at the top...
Takeaways: Fox is profitable and doing better than "the street's" second quarter expectations. The stock should go up as a result tomorrow.
Those wondering FOXF is up 27.4% year to date whereas the market is up 5.23% (S&P)
If you would have bought $10,000 worth of FOXF back when it IPO'd in 2013, you would have $26,600 today; +166% since 2013! Compared to the overall (strong) market from the same period of time? A ridiculous +65.7%, still Fox has greatly outperformed! Who says the business of bikes sucks?!
Meat and Potatoes
Fox Factory reports Q2 EPS $0.56 ex-items vs FactSet $0.47
Reports Q2:
*Revenue $156.8M vs FactSet $146.7M
*EBITDA $32.4M vs FactSet $28.1M
*Sales for Q2 of FY18 were $156.8M, an increase of 29.8% as compared to sales of $120.8M in Q2 of FY17. *This increase reflects a 46.8% increase in sales of powered vehicle products and a 15.1% increase in sales of bike products.
*Gross margin was 33.4% for Q2 of FY18, a 110 basis point increase from gross margin of 32.3% in Q2 of FY17. The improvement in gross margin was primarily due to increased operating leverage on higher volume and improved manufacturing efficiencies.
*Q3 Guidance:
**EPS $0.59-0.67 vs FactSet $0.54
**Revenue $166-176M vs FactSet $151.1M
*FY Guidance (Dec 2018):
**EPS $1.96-2.12 vs FactSet $1.82
**Revenue $596-614M vs FactSet $571.3M
