If you have a single speed DH bike what chain tensioner are you running? I tried this a long time ago on a Rotec RL9, didn’t have the options that are available today. I remember I tried a few different ones and they sucked. Ended up with an old road mech modified. Seems like there are more and better options available now.

I‘m running a SB One G3C tensioner. Pretty pricey but works like a charm!

I just run short cage clutch derailleurs on my single speed bikes. I have a bunch of old 10sp clutch short cages and they work like a charm. I’ve broken a zee and a Saint, but my gx and xo ders are still going strong after 3 seasons each.

You can use a short piece of housing with an inline barrel adjuster on the end, run the cable through to hold tension where your rear cog is, and then use the barrel adjuster to fine tune it. I never did the longer limit screws. You can also set up a bike with 3 different gears in the back, and just use the barrel adjuster to change gears when you need to. Did that on my old ticket s at one point with 2 gears, had a jump gear and a pump track gear.

This is the way.
