New question - weird frame spots on new Specialized...

I just picked up a 2018 Stumpjumper Expert. The bike even with the cold weather here cannot wait to hit the trails.

I have the black frame color with the red accents, and I noticed on the frame that it is not a smooth color, almost looks like it is splotchy in places. It made me want to wipe at it when I first went to get the bike but it was not something that could wipe off. Is that something common with Carbon frames?

As well, I noticed that along with the manual came two sheets with stickers on them, one sheet had SPECIALIZED in black and another in White and both sheets had a bunch of different shape stickers, just shapes, no words no colors. I assume they are for spots on the bike, but I am not sure.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

Specialized has a really good warranty for paint/cosmetic deffects. Ask your bike shop.

For the stickers, there are to protect your frame from cable and shoes rubbing.

Just to be sure (as I know I've come across this before), are you possibly referring to the UD carbon layup itself? If your bike has a layer of clear coat over the carbon as opposed to an actual black painted finish then what you may be seeing is the unique carbon weave below.

That may be it, I will try to get a good photo of it, if it shows well in the photo I will post it.

The color weirdness does not take away from the fun of the bike though, I just want to be sure it is a cosmetic defect when paying that much for the bike. I can deal with it being part of the Carbon weave, that would be kinda cool.

A few of the Spec color ways are designed to change with exposure to the sun, or possibly in your case, UV light. They go all tie die or something. They come with a sticker on the frame that says so. Perhaps yours got taken off?
