The pinkbike news got me to finally register over here too. The writing was on the wall at PB for a while I suppose, starting with Aston leaving, then RC, and of course WAKI. Vital RAW has always been awesome and the reviews well considered, so I suppose it's about time I properly joined the community. I try to get my act together this weekend to do a bike check of my G1. Can't promise any pristine glam shots, it's well used, but well maintained too.

Hello all. Glad to see some familiar names. Anyone know why they stopped doing ews slideshows? I hope it was just a budget thing or similar and nothing to do with ews partnering with Discovery for broadcasting.

Funny you should ask... That topic came up in a recent forum post HERE. Perhaps things will change with all of these new users and increased engagement?

The format of this comment section is not adequate for pinkbike-level traffic.

Welcome to all the people who have migrated from Pinkbike since they are now a part of Outside
Hello, Vital! It is very Sad what it is going to happen to Pinkbibe becoming a cooperative Outside BS now. So, I am exploring Vital. It looks...different, but cool nonetheless. Wink

Does Vital have the ability to create a decent comment section? I could care less what (insert bike brand) has to say about their new (insert newly released product). But I absolutely want to hear what a bunch of degenerates have to say about it.

I could do without all the corny puns that littered the PB comment section however....

Anyone remember Littermag?

This PB acquisition echoes the same bemoaning back then. Yes, Littermag lost a bit of its Freecaster.tv vibes after selling out but it's a lot like Redbull TV now. It's still rad. #clappinyodome

Clappin Yo Dome!

Litter Mag was really something different and not sure very one knew what the hell they were doing, but damn, that was good.
Glad to see where Vital MTB is now and keep the same way.

Lonnnnng time lurker and fan of Vital.
Used to rabidly follow the World Cup slideshows when they were a thing, and I watch pretty much every Raw on YouTube these days. Mainly used PB for the buy and sell and skimming news. Always came here for the real scoop. Spomer, can we get "ADVICE" with Charlie going again? I was over the moon when that series got announced, seems it kinda faded out.
when and only when @TayRob returns to the internet shit talk levels he was once at (re: twenty niners) will any requests for content be entertained.

There goes the neighborhood.. But welcome to all of you new transplants and lurkers. The ride here is full of well calculated shim stacks and comfy bar widths. If you brake too hard you may go over the bars and get checked. Enjoy the culture here and respect it. We are just all riding bikes and having fun when it comes down to it.

What features/functionality are on the wish list for a "decent comment section"?

(at the risk of stating the obvious, we are presently having this discussion in a forum thread...)

Here are some of my wish list items:

- compact layout
- deep threading
- ability to collapse threads
- single page (either load all, load on scroll, or "view" more that then populates on-page)
- upvote/downvote count affects sort order
- indication of new comments since last visit

Ice, what ever you do, keep doing the reviews the same way!, i really enjoy it and although i never wrote it before....i really appreciate it. And we need more shoot outs, Enduro, trail or xc bikes; tyres, helmets, protective gear etc. ; i still use a Astars paragon vest because of your review, at the time i was looking for some "light" protection and i bought one after reading it right here on Vital and i agree with everything, for me and my style of riding, it`s perfect. I care more about this sort of stuff.

That's nice to hear man! Appreciate it! We'll try to get back to more shootouts too... Cool

What do you mean by "deep threading"? We currently support something like 4-5 levels of replying to replies.

And out of curiosity, what would be the order of importance for you of those items you listed? From must-have to would-be-nice.

You are late to the party, it has been going on a long time and it is good!

I'm really surprised you guys are new to this site as it has been here for ages. You missed out a lot by only using one reference to your MTB lifestyle,by not calling all the sources at your hand?

Now we're all are angry that somthing you supported and made big, has created some economic value, and probably will be strong and create good value race-reports (like Ben Cathro (he has a sallary you know, otherwise he would have to get a jobb to support his kid.)).

And if someone came along and gave an strong economical future for Vital-MTB, I am sure it would sell out.
@sspomer don't you think so?

Not late to the party at all. Just never used Vital's forum because PB's front page comment section was so much better.

Multi-tier threading can get a bit annoying. Pinkbike's was simple. Compact with only one tier under the main comment. Made it easy to stay on topic and follow a conversation. Vital's comments are a lot like a Reddit thread, which I tend to avoid.
