The garage, the basement, anywhere you store your bikes and tools... it's a sacred place... and one people often put a lot of work into. For the past few months, I've been working hard on my garage. Slowly converting it to my own service, storage and workout area. For nearly 10-years, it's been kind of the overflow area for crap as well as a long term storage space for my brother's car and my mom's keepsakes.
Check out the progress, so far. The photos start after the car was removed and the boxes of my mom's stuff was put up in makeshift rafters I built. When I started you could only walk to the washer / dryer... it was that full.
Once the big stuff was out, all that was left was miscellaneous junk and a semi utilized workbench area.
Starting to clear the bench and floors...
New toolbox time and a DIY pallet bike rack for the bigger bikes.
Getting the workbench dialed. I also made some crappy (but effective) security bars out of bent rebar and brackets, as well as rigged the garage door in a way that no one can slip a hanger in a pop the safety release.
I'd had the same crappy Performance branded travel bike stand for like 10-years... but there was a Sports Chalet down the street that went out of business last month and they were blowing EVERYTHING out. So... I finally picked up a legit Park Tools stand. So stoked on that upgrade.
Finally, the last bit I've done, which was just last week or so, was pick up a used weight set and bench.
I still have A LOT of work to do in there... next on the list of rubber flooring and clearing out the rest of the crap in there. Depending on how much room we have left once everything non-essential is gone, I'd like to put in a TV and maybe a Lay-z-Boy or something stupid. Not sure if I'll take it that far though... probably not.
Well... that's what I'm working with currently. Let's see what you got!
