There is a massive fire sparked by dry lightening from Scotts Valley to Pescadero and through Boulder Creek. All of the classic Santa Cruz trails are sure to be affected. Sad day...

Yup... it's all pretty crazy right now with none of the fires contained. I'm sitting here at home in Oakland just being stupid anxious reading all the updates. Already have had friends lose homes and others evacuated. California relies on inmate firefighters and because of Covid19, a lot of them are too sick to fight the fires. It's crazy enough that we have a system that relies on inmates to fight fires which is essentially slave labor as they're paid close to nothing and when they're released they also cannot serve as firefighters. But on top of that, we did not do enough to make sure they were safe. I know things are always more complicated than they seem, but yea... just being hella worried here in the bay...

This.

It's brutally hard work too, I ran a saw for a hotshot crew for a couple of seasons and it's no joke.

Stay safe folks, and keep an eye on your air quality. https://gispub.epa.gov/airnow/

I take great comfort in knowing this is all just seasonal variation and climate change is fake.

My Bro-in-law and family just got evacuated from their Scotts Valley home and are on their way over to my house for as long as they need. Family first.
