British Columbia Road trip blog

Starting tomorrow my friend and I are driving towards BC, camping for a month, and plan to ride to ride: Chuckanut, Galbraith, Mount Seymour, Mount Fromm, Cypress, Coast Gravity Park, Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, and Retallack Lodge. We will be living out of my tacoma and have all locations and most trails we will ride planned down to the day. As can be seen on the calendar in the blog. We plan to keep it as cheap as possible with the exception of Retallack because we got the heli drop.

I have created a blog where people can follow along at: makeadventurehappen.org

The point of this blog is to hopefully be some sort of reference for people that want to do a similar trip. I will be providing pictures, reviews on trails, locations, camping, and generally looking for the best trails and cheapest ways to do the different sections of the trip. I haven’t seen anything like this online so I thought I would post it so people could follow along or just use it as a reference. As far as trails, we concentrate mostly on freeride/downhill style trails and epic single track. So we are looking for large descents, big rock faces, large jumplines, and just technical terrain. Good, gnarly mountain bike trails, which is why we are headed to BC. If any one has any recommendations or anything specific they would like to see posted on here please let me know and thanks for reading!

Heck yes! Sounds like an amazing adventure is in the works. You guys will have a blast.

With the help of a local who knows his stuff, Vital prepared a series of ride guides for six BC regions. You can check them out here. Areas include Northern BC, Thompson Okanagan, Kootenay Rockies, Vancouver Coast and Mountains, Vancouver Island, and the Caribou Chilcotin Coast.

This is such a great idea man. I did something similar last summer, spent a ton of time driving around BC and riding all the bike parks and finally made the permanent move here this spring. On a side note, if you find that you have a bit more time in the Nelson area since you are riding at Retallack, let me know I would love to show some shredders around. There is some absolutely epic riding that is just as good, if not better then bike parks. Definetely going to follow the blog and great idea again man! Enjoy your time here

Hey so the trip is going incredibly well. The trails are some of the best I have ever ridden and we are headed to CGP today! I have been posting a lot of pictures and information on the blog and would love some feedback if anyone has time to look at it. Such as, information you would like to see included, how the layout is etc. Really anything that any of you think is good or should be changed or added. Again the blog website is at:makeadventurehappen.org

Thanks so much and I appreciate the time!

@George1220 I think it looks great so far. Its awesome to see this sort of thing happen as I am sure its something that we have all thought would be a cool idea, but is a ton of work and logistics to actually bring it to life. Excited to see how the rest of the trip goes and this could easily be used almost as a guide for anyone hoping to do the same thing.

I've got no criticisms as far as the layout of the blog goes and love how into detail you go with trail names and descriptions. The pictures really help pull it all together.

Keep on keepin on! Enjoy your time out here

Also, Coast Gravity Park is a little slice of paradise. Try not to do what I did my first day there...I didn't ride anything except Coastal Cruise to Flight Deck the entire first day because it is so fun. There is many other good trails in the park!

@scubasteve278 thanks so much for the reply man, I really appreciate the feedback. Haha yea I've been trying to tell myself to concentrate on other trails there because naturally in my mind those are the trails I mainly want to ride. We have four days there so hopefully we can mix it and yes one of the original ideas was for this to turn into some sort of guide or at least reference point for a trip like this so hopefully people will find it and use it. So stoked!! Thanks again man

@kijen thanks a lot man, I appreciate it. I have been wanting to do it for so long and at some point you just have to go, hence the "make adventure happen name". We are having an incredible time! Thanks so much for reading!

@dkidd A couple flats and the brakes are a lot squishier than when we started, but otherwise they are crushing(knock on wood). They are probably going to need a full rebuild after this though! Thanks for reading!
