Long story short, my wife wants a 2019 Specialized Stumpjumper with 29in wheels.

Given that the women's bike has plus sized 650b tyres, could we just drop in a set of 29in wheels and call it good? Has anyone tried this / can confirm there'll be enough space for this to work?

Thanks Vital!

The "Womens" Stumpy is the same frame as the "Mens" stumpy, however with a smaller bottom out token. None of these come with plus size tyres, however with 27.5x2.6" Specialized tyres. Plus size tyres are in the range of 2.8", give or take.

The stumpy is however available as a 29 option, so why not just go fro that straight away? Smile

Thanks for getting back to me!

The honest answer? The colour.

She doesn't want to drop £2750 on a boring grey. I've explained that you don't notice what colour your bike is when riding it, but just threw the 29in in a 650b frame idea out there just incase.

Go grey and get a sweet wrap from somewhere like dyedbro.com. Something like the Guadalupe in color. I have the tiedie on my black bike and its still looks great after nearly 2 years

Sticker the hell out of it and slap some 3M protection over the top, or 3M protection and draw on it. Gets rid of the grey a bit and get the bike you want.

Has she ridden a 29" very much? Those bigger wheels come at a cost. If not I would recommend doing so before making the leap.

Cheers for the input everyone! If the colour doesn't grow on her she'll get in wrapped later on.

She's on a 29er at the moment (and have tried things back to back in the past), and on a modern one there really aren't that many trade offs. She gets on better with the riding style of a 29er than anything smaller actually!
