I can guarantee you that 5mm of real travel would make a difference as there actually is a difference, maybe its slightly more room for bottom out ramp up, run a little more sag and a more progressive tune , or maybe you run everything the same and it just gives you 5 mm more travel and 5mm more breathing room - would it make or break a bike ? No… but if it didn’t have any tangible effect why would yeti make lunch ride additions and why would other brands such as Santa Cruz make bikes that can be long shocked ?

Colby Pringle has been riding his around Squamish as well. Maybe they are restarting development of the platform

Perhaps out the same mold but I'm pretty sure it was a mullet with a long shock. It's definitely set up as a proper DH bike and not just his enduro race bike with a 40 on it for shuttles

Not really bike tech related, but does anyone know what's going on with Alpinestars riders using the MX helmet (Dak, Dunne..) ? Ethan Craik was using it last year as well. I don't think it is a new DH helmet because it looks exactly like the sm10. Craik is also back to a standard Bluegrass DH helmet now
i think that‘s a new DH helmet from alpinestars, chinvent on dak‘s helmet is different to the MX and current DH helmet.

It looks like Ronan has been on the MX helmet recently. The top line S-M10 seems to be the helmet of choice for the rest of the team and other Astars sponsored riders as well. The total lack of available information into relative DH helmet safety is really frustrating (i.e. the margin by which they exceed standards). I've had several major concussions, and made it a priority to invest in the best helmet possible but still impossible to differentiate as a willing consumer between the Leatt 8.0, RPC, D4, Dissident II, 6D, Giro spherical, the A-stars mx or dh helmets, and others.

Not an expert, but have worked in the industry forever and sat through many product knowledge meetings. Buy a mouth guard and a neck brace.
Was responding to your zeb comments on ig too haha, I follow a lot of the forbidden sponsored riders and staff, always little sneak peaks in some of their posts, not sure if intentional or not haha

Hasn't been any DH bikes on Norco's website for a while now. Is there any rumors?
Not a rumour but I spotted this outside the Marks Work Warehouse in Squamish last week. I haven’t been following closely but I’m assuming this is the team kit with trp and crankbrothers. Also had an unlabelled Maxxis tire on the front that I had not seen before (might be old news though).

Looks like a Shorty, except for the different center lug siping.

@Uncle Cliffy mentionned the shorty but I don't think this could be an updated shorty.
Shorty is currently set as 2 rows of narrow spaced center block between each wide spaced center block. So Wide/Narrow/Narrow/Wide
But both Minion DHRII and DHF are set up as Wide/Narrow/Wide/Narrow for center lugs. Side lugs are more inline with how current DHRII and DHF are. Full length siping on one of the pair of center lugs could mean an update to the DHF but I am actually thinking if maybe Maxxis wants to combine DHRII and DHF into a single model. I counted around 50 sku just for the DHF that could be eliminated with a consolidation.

And that's why i love Squamish.... "Friggin trails were a bit muddy bud so I had to run to Marks for some overall's ta get splashin' again"

There was some discussion of this tire last year, hopefully the forums Maxxis insider will give us an update soon. I'm thinking DHF II since it was stated that it wasn't going to be a Shorty v3, DHR III or High Roller III.

Continental has the Argotal, which seemed to do well for some racers on the wet / not quite mud spike / tracks. My guess - slot this tire in and mirror some of Argotal's qualities and get amarketing splash at the same time.
Yea but the embargo date is within a week or so.
This Tuesday according to their insta
Jeez man,
You can be better than that
Yup. The 9th according to deals as well.
Any news on a revised trek slash / e slash or rail?
Colby Pringle has been riding his around Squamish as well. Maybe they are restarting development of the platform
Already spotted the new colorway on IG, assuming that's Rhys
He’s just on a Jekyll with a 40

That isn't a Jekyll front triangle - it has a straight top tube with a shock mount hanging from it!
Not a Jekyll seatstay either.

Looks the same to me?

you‘re right, i just looked at their top level mx helmet, the m10… dak seems to wear the slightly cheaper m8 helmet.
From the website it looks like they don't make the sm8 anymore.
Who’s insta are you finding this on?

Oh that was you on insta haha. You’re everywhere.

Both colorways have been posted here multiple times
Yes, but these are the first photos of the red/orange one in the wild. It was only renders of that one previously.

Troy Lee mentioned in the Gypsy Tales podcast they are working on a D5
Looks like a Shorty, except for the different center lug siping.
Damn I love that bike.
Ye I know that. MTBr has had the same posts. Just wonder where you are getting them lol.
