Quite possibly the most expensive bike to come with deore brakes in history. Utterly ridiculous, especially when the cannondale Jekyll that dropped yesterday had factory suspension and XO1/GX drivetrain with code RSCs for a cheaper price.
I can only assume (and hope) those prices include Germany's 19% VAT.
That doesn't make it much better, still expensive...
Don't get me wrong, this being pre tax would make it stupid expensive, but even with tax it's crazy expensive. More expensive than Specialized. That's saying something.
Shawn Neer posted this yesterday. Looked like quite a bit of spacing on the cranks but then again never personally ran Shimano cranks. This normal or is yeti finally widening the rear triangle🤔

The seatstay goes over the chainstay with the dropout mounted to the chainstay. Looks like a (upside down) Horst Link.
I'm pretty sure you're right; the prototype from one of their videos used the filpped Horst-link layout. Still, it would be neat if they let you...

Yep, I was mistaken. The axel does connect to the chainstay. I couldn't see that clearly before.
Interesting tidbit about the Range in the FAQ on the Norco website, the DH bike uses different drop-out and linkage to allow for more wheel travel and kinematics for DH while using same carbon frame components:
WHAT IS THE NORCO FACTORY TEAM RUNNING FOR DH?
During the development process with the Range, we recognized that the traits that made the High Virtual Pivot suspension layout perfect for Enduro would also be well-suited to the performance requirements of a World Cup DH bike. While our initial testing of Range as an Enduro platform shaped the starting point for the downhill bike, the feedback we received from the Norco Factory Team riders on the downhill prototypes was instrumental in defining the final kinematics for Range.
The bolt-on rear dropout design offered a unique opportunity to adapt the geometry of Range to be appropriate for downhill without the need to alter carbon frame components, (In fact, that’s why you can see the bottle mounts in all those highly-analyzed video stills after the DH proto debuted at Crankworx last summer!) so we designed linkarms specific to downhill that provided the wheel travel and leverage curves required for the demands of World Cup courses and the Norco Factory Team’s fastest riders.
Through extensive testing and iteration with our team, we arrived at a prototype that was ready to compete at the highest level of downhill racing.

Am i the only one thinks weights are getting out of hand on most of the bikes?
For example the new norco is sweet but isn't 36 lbs for a carbon frame, carbon wheels and bars on a 10k bike a bit steep?
Edit: Also shore is all aluminium and 38 lbs
Product designer says, "Look at this new wonder material! It's stronger and lighter!" Warranty guy sees the number of expensive frames coming back broken and tells the engineers to thicken up the carbon layers. Then this ^.
Meanwhile at another company they realize that they've finally gotten their alloy frames to stop breaking through proper heat treating processes. Warranty guy says "Keep up the good work!" And they do and their bikes are lighter and cheaper.

Sometimes they make it heavier but it still cracks a lot like new enduro, i think it's more up to bad designs and bad manuf. tolerances.
People were suspicious about the cage bolts when I posted pics, and I don't blame them.
But jesus, I knew there was something in the numbers of the teaser. I just didn't think enough to look backwards. I saw the 0029, and knew that was intentional.

Looks like the fc-m9125 cranks that came out earlier this year. They have a 55mm chain line and a q-factor which is even wider than the superboost cranks, hence the extra spacers you see.

I had a large 2017 Aurum carbon with a Fox 40, DHX2 w/ SLS spring, Novatec Demon aluminum wheels/Factor hubs, Saint (7spd 11-25) drivetrain/brakes, RF SIXC carbon cranks, bar and seatpost and it weighed 34.5lbs.
Granted reach was 432mm and WB was 1245mm, and it didn't have a dropper seat post, 10-52t cassette and 27.5 wheels/tires but yeah, 36lbs ain't light for a top spec.
I realise that I'm a bit behind on this one, and that it's more of a technical clothing than bike related item, but has anyone else noticed the SevenMX esq tank top and base layer combo the Yeti Factory guys are wearing? It's something that I've wondered about for a while as whether this exact thing would strike a good balance of aero without being a full on skin suit - particularly in DH.
In the 'making up the numbers' podcast Todd Schumlick mentioned something about Richie Rude having plans for WC DH in 2022 - could this be something we see in WC DH then?

100% are selling something similar on their website and calling it the “R-core concept jersey” and it’s just a tight tank top with a compression base layer sold separately
Fortunately my RSS reader cached the article before it was taken down. It confirms virtual high pivot, didn't give any graphs though.
As is traditional, there are three builds, starting at €6200. Interestingly all three have a Fox Factory DHX2, at least according to Enduro Mag.
Maybe new Pivot Firebird geo numbers given on teaser case file?
29” wheels, 170/165 travel, 76 STA, 65/64 HTA

Geo is spot on and the looks are sweet.
So many cool bikes finally coming. Can’t wait to see em out on trails.

No one believed me.

Granted, I didn’t try and climb that bike anywhere. If this thing goes uphill reasonably well, I think I’ll be stoked.
