Hey guys. It’s my first post but I have been lurking here for a while now. Trying to decide between two bikes. A 2018 Slayer 30 or a 2019 Spartan NX aluminum. Both are close in spec and right now I can get both for the same price. I am currently riding a 2017 Marshall and I am out riding the bikes limits. What would you guys choose and why?

I’ve never ridden the Slayer but I have a Marshall XT which is my third Devinci. I bought a Trek this time and although it’s a killer bike (Fuel 9.9 XO) I miss the Devinciness of my Devinci’s. I love the in the bike feel and the way the split pivot works etc. I’d rent a Slayer and ride it for a full day to see if you fall in love. If you cant demo then I’d buy the Spartan because it’s the devil you know. There’s a review of the new Spartan in Bike magazine and it sounds pretty great.

I bought a Spartan LTD a couple of months ago and it is a ridiculously good bike. It's an incredible performer for the downs (that was expected), but I must say I am very impressed at how good it is for climbing and pedaling.

It has a very progressive suspension. Setup with 30% sag, it takes serious hits to bottom out the suspension.

I have not tried the Slayer. It's probably a very good bike as well and is possibly a bit lighter, but I wonder why it has never been used by the EWS team for racing. AFAIK they only used Altitudes and Instincts in the recent years.

Another thing: The Devinci has a lifetime warranty and I've often heard that Devinci are easy to deal with in cases of warranty.
