Lewis Buchanan posted on Instagram today but it's been taken down before I could grab a proper screenshot. He said something along the lines of being happy with his year with Trek, and looking forward to what the next two brings which sounds like he might be leaving the team. He definitely struggled at some points on Trek, but he did show a lot of promise. Any idea where he's likely to end up on his next contract?
For all you US DH fans sad that there won't be a WC in the States for 2018, I got confirmation from a high level WC team manager that Windham is back on the schedule for 2019!
It maybe isn’t technically team-news, but holy schmoke what is YT paying this man... High five to Aaron for figuring it out.

I wish that Gwin's pay level was shared by more of the top riders, seems that he is by far and away the highest earner in DH. Or does he just spend it in different ways? (cars etc.) I know that Peaty has his own product line, Greg has a shop and fingers in a few other pies, Gee has his rally stuff and CG has the stuff he has going on, but aside from that, it doesn't seem like the majority of guys, including some of the top guys (although they are a lot younger, different payscales perhaps?) get anywhere near the same level of pay that he does? It'd be nice to see him have the same effect on pay that riders of Peaty's generation speak of when referring to Palmer I guess.
I think Gwin's pay scale goes beyond just YT. His RedBull contract alone has got to be worth quite a bit, not to mention the rest of his (not bike/bike parts) sponsorships.

Oh yeah, i wasn't saying it was limited to YT, like you say he has stuff with Red Bull too, and KTM too, not to mention the fat payout he must have got when he did that Audi ad. I wonder if a lot of his income is performance related too, bonuses etc. would seem to make sense with his seemingly deep pockets, iirc he's having a house built atm too. I mean you have to hand it to him, he seems to be a fairly shrewd businessman, definitely knows his own value in terms of exposure.
Today's Gwin reminds me of when Tony Hawk finally realized how valuable of a brand he was in the late 90's to early 2000's. Kudos to Aaron for realizing the business side of his sport before his 30's. It's certainly a far cry from digging ditches for a septic tank company.
i thought a couple top guns had comparable title sponsor salary to gwin. correct me if im wrong but wasnt their muttering in last years rumors of brosnan getting more than gwin from his title sponsor? i would love to know how much these guys make... hopefully most that are able to invest wisely considering (on average) their short racing career!!!
also, dont forget about hart and his investment into a bikepark/coaching. some of these lads know whats up!
Gwin stated in an interview with Ben Cathro (check his YouTube, awesome channel) that he will gross about $1M in 2017 between sponsors, race winnings, endorsements etc. Well done Gwin.

He should have been paid 1M for that MSA finals run alone. Or at least given the streaming rights, because that footage is going to be replayed for decades to come.

Indeed. I watched it live and haven't seen it since.
Hopefully Bruni and Minnaar get at least as much as Gwin. I don't see how they wouldn't as they both seem to have much more marketable personalities without the Jesus BS.

Do Gwin's personal beliefs really affect you?
He seems to play it pretty mellow on that stuff during interviews and in his general demeanor, at least in what I can remember of his media presence in the last several years.
I hope those other guys make good money too, because they all tend to act like professionals when expressing themselves.
