So....time to let the cat out of the bag, to cut a long story short, 12 days ago while back home training I had a big crash where I wrapped myself around a tree and ended up with both shoulders seperated and significant muscle tearing around my shoulder blade in my back. Ive bee out and about riding lightly and slowly, but its not possible for me to race this weekend for EWS#1 in Rotorua. Been a very rough 2 weeks and pretty gutted to miss my first major race as world champ. Unfortunately it isnt April 1st either
Graves is out for Rotorua

this is sad sad sad news... what a bummer!
I really hope the injuries aren't serious and that they can come back healthy in little time.

Any further word on Stevie Smith or Taylor Vernon? I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere else
look pretty much like a std impact, and didnt Sam often wear those as well as VXIs last year, just saying, the DH NP looks wikid though, NP really have a great bike development program by the looks. This years WC is going to be so interesting on so many levels!

Daaanmm... This season is beginning to like a war of attrition and it hasn't even started yet! A lot of gravity riders, both DH and enduro out before it even begins. I still haven't found any confirmation that Stevie Smith is out again. As a Canadian and a fan of racing I really hope it isn't the case! I checked both his facebook and twitter and there's no mention of it, but then again there aren't any super recent posts either.
Maybe he broke the prototype?
It pisses me off that he doesn't seem to get the right amount of support for racing, he's got so much potential.
Riding one bike all week, hopping on another one for race day and placing fifth is badass. And let's not forget how he shralped the sh*t out of that one corner. Dripping in style

The kid has soooooooo much potential. I'm sure he has amazing support from his sponsors but it's definitely odd to see him on a rental bike for the race. You would think they would have some backup bikes (if he indeed broke the prototype)
And yes, did he ever rip that inside corner. For me he was the first rider to come through there that made me say "WHAT THE F..." out loud.
i remember an interview where he said he felt more than fine with this kind of support, and not being in a big, trade-kind of team, so he must be happy with that!
just got a note saying minnaar tore a ligament in his thumb. no bueno. way too many injuries this week.
On the bright side, that's the perfect opportunity for a new dominant force in the sport. In 2011, quite a few guys were out or semi-ok, which led to Gwin winning. And winning. And winning. And again.
Who knows, we might see a new dominant figure coming up
fearon on a 27.5 operator finally?
edit - we received word that this bike was a rental for some reason

Can we get a bike check on this? I'm curious if he raced a stock rental or if the team changed parts out to his normal stuff.
It's a high single pivot, the swingarm pivots around the bolt that is halfway up his shin, right beneath the FOX logo on his knee.
The botom part of the swingarm has a black link bolted to it, which gets pulled going through the travel. That in exchange pulls on the silver rocker, which rotates counter-clockwise and compresses the shock.

Out and about riding two weeks after separating both shoulders and tearing muscles? What is he, a gladiator??

healthy vibes for all the injured riders...
Basically, the WC pros wanted slightly more progression in the suspension, so Big S CNC'd up some custom links.
Ludo May, one of our Urge bike products EWS Rider, Team mate of Fabien Barel from the Canyon Factory Enduro Team is out for a broken collar bone. . .

sam has new shoes, too.
That kit does not match their UCI Trade Team kit - Are Royal only sponsoring them for UCI DH events?
