Szymon Godziek Bike Check and Rampage Prep 2

Szymon has one of the biggest lines at Rampage, and this is the bike he'll attack it on.

Szymon Godziek is an athlete who comes from the dirt jump and skatepark scene – successfully, year by year, he has made his way into freeride. In 2022 he scored 2nd place, coming back in 2023 fighting for the top spot of the podium he had a big crash in the first run. Once again on the comeback trail from injury this year, he's going to Rampage to settle the score.

“At the moment I am feeling better than ever on my bike. This year I have spent more time than ever on my freeride bike and I am ready to go big in Utah. I have been spending so much time on my Demo this year. It’s my favourite bike and I feel amazing on it. Cant wait to put my tires in the Utah’s soil again.” - Szymon Godziek

Q&A

When you were a kid, could you see yourself doing what you’re doing now?
When I was getting into mountain biking inspired by NWD 7, all I wanted was to be a pro rider. Although I could never imagine myself being at the top of the game, battling for the win at Rampage!

This will be your 7th time competing at Red Bull Rampage, does it ever get easier?
It never gets easier. I always compete at Rampage with a goal to push my limits and that’s not easy.

Rampage is headed back to the 2019 site, can you tell us how you’re feeling going back to this location?
I have been there in 2019 so I have my line there which is not bad. It’s gonna make everything easier cause I will use the main features which are some of the biggest drops in my life. The task is so much easier cause I have jumped them in past and I know how fast I need to go.

Describe the state of emotions you go through leading up to Rampage, once on site and digging, and then on competition day.
Digging is the most fun! But after the digging days you have to hit everything what you were digging before so it gets stressful. On competition day you have to link everything in your line and that’s hard and stressful too. I think it’s all a mix of peace and fun and stress.

What thoughts and mentality help keep you locked in while you’re riding?
I think about reaching my goals and the satisfaction I will get when I reach them.

What is your goal at Red Bull Rampage this year?
This year I am going to try to put down a clean run with the best tricks I know. I will be pushing my limits. I hope this is gonna give me a top spot in the comp and will become one of the Rampage winners.

Who is a part of your dig team this year?
I am digging with my friends from Poland. Przemek Abramowicz is coming with me for the 3rd time and we are bringing a young blood Mateusz Zajaczkowski with us, who is a hard worker and a pure enthusiast of freeride MTB.
