e*thirteen TRS Race SL Crankset
This new carbon crankset from e*thirteen weighs in at a very respectable 418 grams in the 175mm crank length which includes the bottom bracket spindle. With the addition of the new, 12 gram lighter SL chainring that features a 7-spoke design, the crankset remains under the 500-gram mark making it a contender for one of the lightest on the market. The new chainring design is claimed to be a little bit stiffer than the old ring. e*thirteen has decided on a spacer system to adjust the chainline. Simply add spacers in the right location as needed for Boost and non-Boost applications. Like the LG1+ crankset, this one also features a new self-extracting bolt for easier service on the go.
e*thirteen TRS Race 27.5+ Wheelset
Though it was launched last year, not many know about e*thirteen’s TRS Race 27.5+ wheelset. It has an ultra-wide 36mm inner width, making it well suited to plus-sized tires. The rim has a hookless profile with 28-spoke holes and comes ready to rip with tubeless tape and valve stems installed. This one is Boost only and weighs 1939 grams for the set.
e*thirteen TRS 2-Bolt Chainguide
The new e*thirteen TRS 2-bolt chainguide is made with a stamped steel backplate and is compatible with ISCG 05 tabs. This piece is very affordable at just $35 and it even has e*thirteen’s co-molded stealth rubber in the slider to keep things quiet. There's a version with a bolt pattern specific to the Shimano STEPS drive system, which will bring added chain security to e-bikes.
e*thirteen LG1+ Crankset
Downhillers will find a lot of value in this updated crankset from e*thirteen. It’s made from forged aluminum arms which include a one-piece non-driveside arm plus bottom bracket spindle. The crankset has a self-extracting bolt which is a welcomed return for e*thirteen. You’ll see self-extracting bolts across their lineup moving forward. As with all e*thirteen cranksets, it uses the P3 Polygon interface.
e*thirteen TRS+ Dropper in 170mm Travel Size
e*thirteen has decided to make a 170mm travel version of their TRS+ dropper. One key consideration was the overall length of the post. They reduced it by 20mm compared to other versions of their own post by focusing on a shorter perch design and new tube materials which feature tighter tolerances. This allows them to have a little less bushing overlap without durability issues. The same 20mm of length reduction, once proven on the 170mm design, will likely work its way into their other travel posts. The 170mm dropper is 490mm long from end to end.
New e*thirteen Tires
e*thirteen’s TRS line of tires has proven to be very popular among riders as they feature great grip and reliability in the turns. New for 2018, they are introducing various versions of the tire including new dual-ply casing LG1+ and LG1r tires. The '+' designation indicates that it’s a single compound while the r-version is a dual-compound rubber with a 48a durometer side knobs and 52a in the center for durability. All tires are 2.35-inches in width and measure true to size. They’ve also moved to a new aramid casing which provides a stiffer sidewall for more support in the turns.
e*thirteen LG1r Carbon Downhill Wheels in 29-inch Diameter
In an effort to stay ahead of demands from riders, e*thirteen is making their LG1r carbon downhill wheel available in a 29-inch size. It comes in at the same $2000 price tag with a 7-speed cassette. The wheelset (including the cassette, tape, valves, etc.) weighs 2150 grams.
