Shovel MTB Components at Eurobike

Shovel is a young company out of Croatia that started out of a garage some five years ago. Now the team has dug in, established some roots and have an interesting and growing product line.

Shovel's Enduro chainguide is a 60g carbon chainguide with a top guide and bottom bash guard. It has a C-style opening which allows installation on the bike without having to remove cranks. It has a carbon back plate and titanium hardware keeping that weight oh-so-light.

Shovel is also working on a prototype of what they call the Ripper rotor. It is basically a floating brake rotor which allows for removal of the outer braking surface independently of the spider, creating a more cost-effective replacement solution. A 190mm version of the Ripper rotor is in the works, providing a bit of weight savings over a 200mm rotor without substantial power loss.

Shovel just released an oval chainring that is super light - 29g to be exact for the 34 tooth version pictured here. Ovalized with a narrow/wide shape of course and using the "half-open" bolt holes so that you can just slide it on without complete chainring bolt removal.

Shovel's downhill version of the chainguide is a bit beefier with upper and lower guides, but still only weighs 95 grams using an almost full-carbon construction and titanium hardware.
