Ryan Cleek has been one of mountain biking's storytellers for over 20 years. He's played many roles in the industry as a photographer, writer, videographer and product tester for media outlets and bike brands. Along the way, he has made two feature-length films about mountain bikers and their journey in our sport. We had a chance to sit down and get the story of the storyteller, and it's pretty good, if we say so ourselves.

My mountain bike art site features images I've shot and made them into unique pop-art style designs through Illustrator and Photoshop. After each image, Ryan deletes the history of the layers, so it would be impossible to reproduce one of these designs from scratch. They are truly one-of-a-kind pieces. https://www.etsy.com/shop/BikeBlotter
Some post-interview notes from Ryan
"As for Downhill Speed, man, I was so appreciative of Spomer's review in decline back when the movie came out in 2005. He really understood the concept, and also the delicacy which I had to employ to include Johnny's injury. That really meant a lot, and I wish I had recalled that point when it came up in our chat. Downhill Speed can be viewed for free in its standard-definition glory on YouTube.
"In hindsight, I answered your question about my racing career rather vaguely. I really hadn't ever digested it all at one time. As far as novel results go, I won a number of National Championship races in BMX, and then a handful in Dual Slalom, Fourcross, and Downhill. Also, completely from left field, my team won the collegiate ice hockey national championship, although I've never played again after that final game of my senior season."
